(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Hongjun, a Falun Gong practitioner from Jitai Town, Shouguang City, was sentenced to three years in prison. He is appealing the sentence to the Weifang Intermediate Court.

Mr. Liu is 59 years old. When he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in June 2000, he was arrested and tortured by police officers from Shouguang City. He ended up being detained for over a month.

That fall, he returned to Beijing to appeal again, but he was arrested and tortured for over a month. Police officers shocked him with electric batons for over 24 hours, leaving his entire body covered in burns and bruises.

He managed to escape but had to stay away from home. He was arrested again at the end of 2002 and was detained until June 2011.

He was arrested again in August 2012 and held for over a month.

Mr. Liu's most recent arrest was on March 13, 2017, when he and his son were pulled over by the police. Officers ransacked their home. His son was released on bail two days later; Mr. Liu was taken to the Shouguang City Detention Center.

Mr. Liu was indicted on April 20 by the Shouguang City Procuratorate. Officers from the Shengchengjiedao Police Station went to Mr. Liu's home to harass his wife and make a video recording.

Two officers from the Shenchengjiedao Police Station went to Mr. Liu's store on the evening of June 1. Mr. Liu's wife tried to keep them out, but they forced their way in. When she asked them who they were, they refused to answer or to show her any identification.

The Shouguang Court tried Mr. Liu on the morning of August 1, 2017. It was recently learned that he was sentenced to prison, but the length of his term was not disclosed.
