(Minghui.org) Before I practiced Falun Gong, I suffered from tracheitis, sinusitis, gastric neurosis, migraines, tinnitus, chronic pharyngitis, arrhythmia, kidney issues, back pain, sciatica, disc protrusion, and uterine tumors.
Naturally, I couldn't live without medical intervention. Being hospitalized multiple times didn't help. I lived in constant, unbearable pain.
After taking too many drugs, I went into allergic shock and was taken to the emergency room many times. My exorbitant medical expenses left my family penniless.
My family looked for help from shamans, but, fortunetellers and face readers predicted that I would either die or become paralyzed in middle age.
That was 20 years ago. I didn't die, nor did I become paralyzed. In fact, I am very healthy. It's all thanks to the fateful encounter I had with Falun Gong in 1997. Within a month after I took up the practice, all the health problems that had bothered me for decades disappeared, even though I didn't take a single pill. It was nothing short of miraculous!
I was finally healthy and felt light all over, a wonderful feeling beyond description. All those who knew me said I looked like a completely different person after practicing Falun Gong. They all admired me.
Falun Gong practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion- Forbearance. After I started to practice Falun Gong, I began to take fame and personal gain lightly, treat people kindly and sincerely, consider others first, look within to identify my own problems during conflicts, and was no longer rude to my son.
My son has lived with me since he was born, so my life and way of doing things have a direct influence on his development and life goals. Morality nowadays has declined dramatically, especially in China, where people have been poisoned by the atheistic culture of the CCP. In such a society, it's difficult to be a good person.
I was so lucky to have come upon the pure land of Falun Gong in such a chaotic world. Thanks to Dafa, my son's life also changed, and he received many blessings.
Dissolving Hatred
My son graduated from college 20 years ago. He first worked as an intern at the local county tax bureau for three months, but later he was assigned to work at a village township government ten miles from home.
My son was very honest, seldom spoke, and worked diligently. Two years later, my son passed the county's appraisal and was approved to become a civil servant. He was very glad when he told us this good news.
However, my son still didn't get a formal offer days later. He went to the county government to check the status and was told that his position was given to the child of a high-level official. That child, as a temporary worker without a certificate of higher education, was not qualified to be a civil servant. That official called my son one night, met with him privately, and threatened him.
“Be careful. I can ensure that you have a job here, but I can also get rid of you,” he said.
My son was very disappointed and angry. He came home and told us what had happened. He was normally very kind and calm, but he became very emotional at being treated so unfairly.
“He is so terrible for not following the rules,” shouted my son. “I will not forgive him.”
He picked up a knife and was going to go after the official. My husband stopped him and persuaded him not to do it.
“There is nowhere to find justice nowadays. We are just ordinary people. Let's just forbear it,” he said.
For the first time, my son refused to listen to his father. He couldn't calm down.
I walked over to my enraged son and shared my own cultivation experience.
“I encountered so much injustice during the several decades before I started practicing Falun Gong. I pursued fame and personal gain, but all I got in return was ill health. If it weren't for Falun Gong, you would've lost your mother long ago.”
I shared with him this Fa principle:
...as a cultivator should follow the course of nature. If something is yours, you will not lose it. If something is not yours, you will not have it even if you fight for it.” (Zhuan Falun)
I told him, “Even if someone took something from you, he brings karma upon himself. Heaven is watching us all the time.”
I also told him the story about Han Xin, who endured the humiliation of crawling between someone's legs.
“If I didn't practice Falun Gong, I would definitely support you and encourage you to fight. But what do we get when we hurt others? People already live in so much pain while fighting for fame and personal gain.”
My son eventually cooled down and went back to work, his anger and hatred gone. It's Falun Dafa that dissolved this irreconcilable conflict and my son's hatred.
A Loss on the Surface But Actually a Blessing
Around 2000, the government had too many employees, and there were a lot of layoffs. My son suffered another setback. Despite his youth, ability, and education, he was still on the list to be laid-off.
Though misfortune befell him, he was able to maintain a positive attitude. It was because of Falun Gong. After the previous incident, I often gave him Dafa materials to read. He also read Zhuan Falun and Master's other lectures, so he understood the true goal and significance of life and was able to take fame and personal gain lightly.
My son stayed at home for two months after he was laid off. One day, he saw a hiring notice on TV for civil servant positions. He thought that he'd give it a try and submitted an application.
Among thousands of applicants, my son ranked among the top handful and was hired by a law enforcement bureau. Due to his excellent performance at work, he was promoted three times within the next few years. Soon after that, he was transferred to our local county government.
One day, I met with one of my son's superiors at his new workplace.
He asked me, “How did you bring up such an excellent son? Among the young officials who got promoted in our county government, only your son passed with a unanimous vote.”
I told him truthfully, “I am a Falun Gong practitioner and always follow the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance no matter where I am and what I do. I disciplined my son the same way and taught him to be a righteous person: one who is honest to superiors and nice to everyone, who treats people with tolerance, who doesn't touch interests unrelated to him, and one who works diligently and lives up to the taxpayers' expectations.”
That official responded with admiration.
“You son is really blessed to have you as his mother,” he said.
My son's promotions were blessings from Falun Dafa. He believes in Falun Dafa, supports me in cultivation and has done a lot of good things to validate Falun Dafa. The heavenly principles will always serve justice in the end.
A Wise Choice
At the end of September 2013, some kind of insect bit my son on the foot. Several days later, it was still itchy, but he didn't take it seriously.
During the early October holidays, my son drove me to my younger sister's birthday party. When we got out of the car, he felt that his leg was swollen and painful and that he could not control it fully. His entire calf was swollen and red.
I prayed to Master for help in my heart.
I told my son, “You know your mom lived pretty safely in the past twenty years after practicing Falun Gong, even though I encountered tribulations. But it was Master who helped me dissolve all these tribulations. Now your leg is in such bad shape, so you must go to the hospital immediately if you are not assured in your heart. However, if you want to recover soon without any danger, just recite 'Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good' and ask Master for help. You will definitely be all right.”
My son was very calm and asked us to help him to get upstairs. I was very happy for my son because he made a wise choice to believe in Falun Dafa during such a critical moment. He read Dafa materials every day. Soon his swelling disappeared. Several days later, he was able to drive to work.
The above is my sharing about how Dafa has positively impacted both me and my son. I would like to take this opportunity to tell people that Falun Dafa is good and that our Master is compassionate. I hope those who have been deceived by the CCP can understand the facts about Falun Gong as soon as possible and keep in mind “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Master has sacrificed so much for us. Master, your disciple and her family can't ever hope to repay your efforts and boundless compassion. We express our great gratitude to Master!
