(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xiang Qinqshan from Chengdu City was arrested and later released on bail in September 2016. He was arrested again in November 2017. He was then sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison on December 5, 2017.

The court did not notify his family of the sentencing. Thus, his wife, Ms. Zhao Surong, petitioned the court for the sentencing documents, but the court denied the request. The family has appealed the case. They also filed complaints against the chief of the Yangliu Police Station, Zhang Jian, and Domestic Security police officer, Chen Fugang.

Ms. Zhao went to the Jiangyuan Community Office with her one-year-old grandson to get proof of residency later that month. Officer Liu Jiang from the Yangliu Police Station arrested her after the community office notified him that Ms. Zhao was in the office.

Officer Cheng interrogated Ms. Zhao for an entire day and demanded that she tell him who had written the complaints. Ms. Zhao refused to comply with their demands. During the interrogation, Liu revealed that Mr. Xiang had been sentenced to three-and-a-half years for shouting “Falun Dafa is good” in the court.

Ms. Zhao's grandson was not given any food while she was being interrogated. Eventually, not knowing what to do with the child, the police released Ms. Zhao.
