Tangshan Police Make Arrests to Fill Quota, Including Woman in Her Seventies
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bai Meifen is in her seventies. She was arrested by police from Tangshan in February 2016. The Lubei District Court held an illegal trial in November 2016. During the trial, Ms. Bai kept vomiting. By the time the session was over, she could barely walk.
Ms. Bai’s family received notification in early December that Ms. Bai was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. Ms. Bai was sent to Shijiazhuang Women’s Prison in June 2017.
Over 20 police officers broke into Ms. Bai’s home at around 9:30 a.m. on February 4, 2016. Ms. Bai and two other practitioners who were helping her clean up were arrested and taken to Diaoyutai Police Substation. Police stayed in Ms. Bai’s home until the evening and arrested three other practitioners who came to visit Ms. Bai. Police also took away Ms. Bai’s computer and other personal belongings worth over 20,000 yuan.
Ms. Bai was arrested and taken to Tangshan First Detention Center. According to some officers, they received an arrest quota around Chinese New Year. They had to finish their assignment.
Prior to Ms. Bai practicing Falun Gong, she used to suffer from low blood pressure, such that she could not do any work, even normal household chores. After she practiced Falun Gong for two months in March 1999, her low blood pressure disappeared. She was able to do work on her own and didn't need any more medicine.
