Nearly 100 Chinese Quit the Communist Party at Oakland Chinatown StreetFest
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners from northern California participated in the annual Oakland Chinatown StreetFest from August 26 to August 27, 2017. The largest event of its kind in Oakland, the festival attracted thousands of people to experience Asian culture.
Many learned about the ancient practice of Falun Gong and showed support for ending the persecution the peaceful group faces in China.
During the two-day event, nearly 100 Chinese took a stance against the communist regime's atrocities by withdrawing their memberships in the communist organizations they had once joined.
Mr. Chen, a Chinese-American, was moved when he learned that Falun Gong is based on Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He said, “These are the life principles I have been looking for!” He asked where he could buy a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong teachings.
Many people were shocked to learn about the Chinese communist regime's state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting being carried out on Falun Gong practitioners. They condemned the regime's crime and signed a petition calling for its end. More than 600 signatures were collected.
Outraged, an elderly Chinese man said, “The Communist Party is the real evil cult! It has persecuted so many innocent people. Its days are numbered!” He decided to withdraw from the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers. “I know Falun Gong practitioners are kind people,” he said. “You are the hope of China!”
Another Chinese man had misconceptions about Falun Gong because of the regime's deceitful propaganda. A practitioner clarified the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution to him. It dawned on him that the Communist Party had lied to the people. He then decided to withdraw from the communist organizations he had once joined.
