(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Zhongfang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chengdu, Sichuan Province, was arrested by the police while passing out informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong on August 1, 2017.
It appears that, while her family was at the police station demanding her release on the evening of her arrest, the police snuck into their home and took away Ms. Li's Falun Gong books.
Meanwhile, at the police station, Ms. Li's family was met with a harsh reception by an officer named Xi. When Ms. Li's daughter argued with Xi that it's her mother's freedom of belief to practice Falun Gong, officer Xi mocked her, saying: “Freedom? I just don't want you to have freedom!”
Xi also threatened to submit Ms. Li's case to the procuratorate and press charges against her.
Earlier that day, right after Ms. Li's arrest, four officers had gone to her home, opened the door with her key and began to search for Falun Gong related materials. The police found Ms. Li's Falun Gong books and some newsletters produced by other practitioners. After reporting to their supervisor, the officers took the newsletters and left.
After the police left, Ms. Li's family picked up her Falun Gong books, which the officers had thrown on the floor, and put them back into a box. They were surprised to find the box of books missing when they returned home from the police station that evening. Everything else seemed to be in place and the front door was locked.
Ms. Li was sent to Chengdu City Detention Center that evening. Her family was informed by the police the next day that she was put on criminal detention for 13 days.
According to an inside source, Ms. Li has been on hunger strike since the start of her detention and her current physical condition is worrisome.
