(Minghui.org) Ms. Yu Mei from Taiping Village, Xiuhui Town in Jinan City was arrested on October 16, 2016, for talking to people about Falun Gong, and filing a lawsuit again former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. She has been held in the Jinan Detention Center for more than eight months.
Humiliated, Harassed and Tortured
Ms. Yu, 54, a housewife, has been persecuted many times by the Chinese Communist Party for her belief.
She was humiliated in front of people by being forced to wear a big sign around her neck and take part in a “street tour” in October 2000.
At that time, her son was in fifth grade, and was discriminated and frequently bullied by other students only because his mother practiced Falun Gong.
Staff from the 610 Office also went to his school to hold a public meeting to slander the practice in front of the entire school and purposely mentioned Ms. Yu's name.
Under constant pressure, fear and harassment, Ms. Yu's son dropped out of school after finishing fifth grade.
In November 2000, Ms. Yu was taken to the Jiangshuiquan Forced Labor Camp and tortured. She was handcuffed and hung up on a window frame with her toes barely touching the ground. She was tortured in this way for 10 consecutive days.
The guards also shocked her with electric batons every night. Sometimes, she was slapped in the face, kicked or beaten.
She was later held in a small cell and shocked with electric batons twice on the chest area and feet. The first time lasted between 10-20 minutes, while the second time lasted almost 30 minutes. Her whole body shook incessantly.
Ms. Yu used to be in poor health before she began practicing Falun Gong. She suffered from insomnia, gastritis and lumbar disc herniation since childhood. She also caught colds easily.
For many years, she felt hopeless. After she began practicing Falun Gong in 1998, all of her illnesses disappeared, she was in good health and was more optimistic.
