Additional Persecution News from China – June 20, 2017 (30 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 29 cities or counties in 17 provinces. According to this report, 15 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 29 were illegally arrested.

1. [Yongji County, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Zhongju, in her fifties, was arrested and taken to the Chengnan Police Station on the morning of June 16, 2017, then taken for a medical examination. Despite high blood pressure, she was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center.

Ms. Li Shuhua, in her sixties, was arrested and taken to the Chengnan Police Station on the morning of June 16, 2017, then taken for a medical examination. She was released that day because of high blood pressure.

Ms. Han Yan was arrested at work by officers from the Beidahu Police Station on the afternoon of June 13, 2017. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, a printer, and a computer.

2. [Bazhong City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zhang Minglang Arrested

Mr. Zhang Minglang, 80, from Bazhou District, was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong on a bus on the morning of June 18, 2017. He was arrested by four officers from the Bazhou District Domestic Security Division. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated eight cell phones, calling cards used for spreading the word about the persecution of Falun Gong, paper currency with Falun Gong information printed on the bills, copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and Falun Gong informational materials.

3. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Cao Dongyong Detained

Mr. Cao Dongyang, an accountant from the No. 45 Bus Team in Dazhou City, was arrested on May 22, 2017 by officers from the Tongchuan District 610 Office, the State Security Division, and officials from the Dongcheng neighborhood administration office. He is being held in the Fuxing Detention Center.

4. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Ling and Ms. Yan Guizhi Arrested

Ms. Zhang Ling, 65, and Ms. Yan Guizhi, 69, were reported for talking to people about Falun Gong on May 9, 2017. They were arrested by officers from the Shungeng Police Station, photographed, and body searched. The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated Falun Gong books and computers. Both practitioners were released that afternoon.

5. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioner Verdicts Upheld

Ms. Ji Min and Ms. Wang Yuhui were each given a one-year-and-six-month prison term, and Ms. Feng Lihua a two year prison term. The three practitioners appealed to the Qingdao City Intermediate Court, but the intermediate court upheld the original sentences. Ms. Feng has been taken to the Shandong Women's Prison.

6. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Wang Zhihui Given a Two-Year Prison Term

Mr. Wang Zhihui was secretly given a two-year prison term by the Yu County Court on June 1, 2017.

7. [Lianjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Luo Ling Arrested

Ms. Luo Ling was recently arrested at a checkpoint of the Luchuan Train Station when returning home after visiting her over-80-year-old parents in Luchuan County. Officers searched her bag and confiscated the book Zhuan Falun, Falun Gong informational materials, and a notebook computer. Ms. Luo was taken to the Railway Police Station and released after midnight. She arrived home the following morning.

8. [Chongqing] Ms. Qin Yongfu Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Qin Yongfu from Banan District was arrested on her way to attend group study of Falun Gong teachings on the morning of June 15, 2017. The police officers searched her bag and confiscated Falun Gong books. Her whereabouts are unknown.

9. [Yangshuo County, Guangxi Province] Ms. Li Wei and Mr. Zhou Jianhua Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Li Wei from Changchun City, Jilin Province, and Mr. Zhou Jianhua from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were arrested in November 2015 for distributing DVDs with Internet censorship circumvention information. Both practitioners were tried twice on October 14, 2016 and December 16, 2016. They were sentenced to prison on June 16, 2017. Ms. Li was given a five year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan. Mr. Zhou was given a three year prison term and fined 5,000 yuan.

10. [Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Jiang Zhongying Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Jiang Zhongying, in her forties, was arrested at work in April 2017 for calling people and talking to them about Falun Gong. The police located her by monitoring her phone. Her whereabouts are unknown.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Kongying and Ms. Zhu Jinlan Arrested

Ms. Li Kongying and Ms. Zhu Jinlan from the Yuhualing Residential Community, Houhu area, were reported by a bus driver for talking to passengers about Falun Gong on a bus on their way home on the morning of June 17, 2017. Both practitioners were arrested and taken to Shiqiao Police Station.

12. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Wang Xiongzhen Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiongzhen from the Yangjiaqiao area, Qilihe District, was arrested at home by officers from the Lanzhou City Domestic Security Division on the morning of June 18, 2017. Her home was ransacked.

13. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Pan Hongting and Mr. Yan Shanwei Taken to Prison

Mr. Pan Hongting and Mr. Yan Shanwei were taken to the Liaonan Prison on June 6, 2017.

14. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ge Chunying Detained

Ms. Ge Chunying was photographed by street surveillance cameras when putting up Falun Gong materials on the evening of June 16, 2017. Officers from the Nanshan Police Station arrested her, ransacked her home, and took her to the Jinzhou City No. 2 Detention Center.

Her elder sister Ms. Ge Chunling has been held in the Shanxi Women's Prison.

15. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Fengyuan Arrested

Ms. Wang Fengyuan, 53, was arrested on June 16, 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong.

16. [Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wei Arrested

Ms. Wei, in her seventies, from the Shilipu area, was arrested by officers from the Daminggong Police Station on the morning of June 11, 2017 for distributing Falun Gong materials. Her family went to the police station demanding her release. They were informed that Ms. Wei would not be released, as the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party would soon be held.

17. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Zhao Yiyu Detained

Ms. Zhao Yiyu was arrested by officers from the Harqin Banner Police Station in early May 2017. She is being held in the Harqin Banner Detention Center. Officers from the Hongshan District Police Department ransacked her mother's home on April 25, 2017, to look for incriminating evidence.

18. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Liying and Mr. Lu Qingnian Detained

Ms. Zhang Liying and her husband Mr. Lu Qingnian were arrested by officers from the Huashan Police Station on June 16, 2017. They are being held in the Jilin City Detention Center.

Mr. Liu Changyou was arrested by officers from the Jiangnan Police Station. He escaped. His small pickup truck, goods valued at about 1,000 yuan, and 1,000 yuan in cash were confiscated.

19. [Jiaohe City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Duan Shuhua, Mr. Yang Zuodong, and Ms. Yang Huanqin were arrested on the morning of June 14, 2017, and taken to the Hebei Street Police Station, where they were interrogated about suing Jiang Zemin, the former herd of the communist regime. Ms. Duan and Mr. Yang, who have physical disabilities, were released that day. Ms. Yang was detained for 15 days.

20. [Guangde County, Anhui Province] Ms. Liu Zhinan Arrested

Ms. Liu Zhinan, in her seventies, from the Gaohu Residential Community, was arrested at home by about eight officers from the Domestic Security Division on the morning of May 31, 2017. She was taken to the local police station, where she was interrogated. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books, amulets, a music player, a notebook computer, and a booklet containing phone numbers of her family members. The officers coerced her son into signing a guarantee statement promising that she would give up Falun Gong, in exchange for her release.

21. [Wuhu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Chen Daoyu and Ms. Shang Xiuying Arrested

Ms. Chen Daoyu and Ms. Shang Xiuying were arrested and taken to the Wuhu Police Department on the morning of June 18, 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong. Ms. Shang was released that evening.

22. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhong Liena Arrested

Ms. Zhong Liena was arrested on June 16, 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong.

23. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Chen Shuang Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Chen Shuang from Longgang District was arrested at work by officers from the Bantian Police Station and the Domestic Security Division on the morning of June 4, 2017. The officers confiscated a notebook computer. She was later placed under criminal detention. Her whereabouts are unknown.

24. [Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Hu Deyuan Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Hu Deyuan, 73, was tried at the Yingtan City Court on the morning of June 7, 2017. He was given a prison term with a range of between three-and-a-half and seven years and fined 10,000 yuan.

25. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Ms. Dai Fengting Placed Under Criminal Detention

Ms. Dai Fengting from Gao Village, Shiting Town, was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in Guangrunzhuang Village, Shiwo Town, Fangshan District, Beijing, on the morning of June 17, 2017. She was arrested by officers from the Shiwo Town Police Station, and taken to the police station. The officers then took her to her home and ransacked it. They confiscated Falun Gong books and materials, and took photos. Ms. Dai was placed under criminal detention that evening and was taken to the Fangshan District Detention Center.

26. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Ms. Jie Lanrong Placed Under Criminal Detention

Ms. Jie Lanrong from Yanjiao Town was arrested by officers from the Beiwan Police Station on the morning of June 18, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong materials in Tong County. She was placed under criminal detention at the Tong County Detention Center. No family visits have been allowed.

27. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Lei Huaying Detained

Ms. Lei Huaying from the Zhangjiawan Residential Community, Shuiguohu area, was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong on the evening of June 13, 2017. She was arrested by Donghu scenic area police officers. She was taken to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center around 3 a.m. the following day for ten days of detention.

28. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Mr. Cao Congqing Detained

Mr. Cao Congqing was reported for distributing Falun Gong materials in Yaoshan Village, Junchuan Town on the afternoon of June 17, 2017. He was arrested by officers from the Junchuan Police Station and severely beaten by the officers. His face was bruised and turned purple and blue. He was taken to the Suizhou Detention Center for seven days of detention. His family went to the police station asking for his motorcycle. They were forced to pay a fine of 200 yuan.
