Introducing Falun Gong at Art on Lark Festival in Albany, New York
(Minghui.org) The Art on Lark street festival was held on Lark Street in Albany, New York on June 10, 2017. This annual summer event has 36 years of history and celebrates local art and artisans in Albany.
Local Falun Gong practitioners set up a booth and introduced the meditation practice to visitors. They also raised awareness of the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China by the communist regime.
The festival attracted more visitors than in previous years. When the practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises, some visitors wanted to learn. One young man followed the practitioners' hand movements during the second exercise.
Some practitioners offered free exercise instruction and talked with the visitors, who expressed outrage when they learned of the arrest, imprisonment, torture practitioners continue to face in China. Many signed a petition condemning the persecution.
A man from Brazil said one of his family members in another city told him about Falun Gong and asked him to watch a show by Shen Yun Performing Arts. After he did so, he wanted to learn Falun Gong. He went to the local group exercise site the next day to learn the exercises.
