(Minghui.org) The police in Nancheng City arrested a woman on October 13 last year for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline persecuted in China since 1999. After the arrest, the police ransacked Ms. Niu Yulan's home in Shulan City and confiscated her personal property to be used as evidence of her faith.

The police sent Ms. Niu to the Jilin Detention Center the next day. At the end of November, the Jilin Procuratorate officially arrested Ms. Niu. She went on a hunger strike in December in protest.

Due to abuse suffered in police custody, Ms. Niu has lost vision in one of her eyes and has abnormal tissue growth in her stomach. She is in mortal danger, but the authorities have refused to let her family visit her in the detention center.

Meanwhile, Ms. Niu's case has been returned to the police due to insufficient evidence.

The day before Ms. Niu's arrest, the police arrested six other Falun Gong practitioners for telling people why the persecution was wrong. The police also threatened and harassed many practitioners at their homes in a nearby town.
