Non-judicial Agency Pressures Procuratorate to Issue Formal Arrest Warrant Against Woman Detained for Her Faith
(Minghui.org) Ms. Ai Yanjing was arrested by Tieling City Police Department on March 21, 2017 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
The Diaobingshan City Procuratorate and the Diaobingshan City Police Department (editor’s note: Diaobingshan is under the administration of Tieling City) were assigned to handle Ms. Ai’s case. They concluded after an investigation that there was not sufficient evidence to charge her and informed her family to pick her up.
Ms. Ai never got to return home with her family, as the Diaobingshan City Procuratorate was pressured to issue a formal arrest warrant against her on April 27.
The Diaobingshan City Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) was the non-judicial agency behind the procuratorate’s sudden decision to reverse course.
When Ms. Ai’s family went to the PLAC to inquire about her case, they got photographed and threatened by one of its officials.
Ms. Ai remains at Tieling City Detention Center.
