Contradiction Found in Trial of Liaoning Practitioner Mr. Xin Shuren
(Minghui.org) Mr. Xin Shuren, a Falun Gong practitioner from Tieling City, was tried by the Yinzhou District Court on March 21, 2017 for handing out two desktop calendars that contained information about Falun Gong and the Chinese communist regime's persecution of the spiritual discipline. His attorneys pleaded not guilty on his behalf.
Both of Mr. Xin's attorneys argued that the materials the prosecutor submitted as evidence were not valid: “The police arrested Mr. Xin on November 11, 2016. But the materials being used by the court to accuse him are dated October 21, which is 21 days earlier than the arrest.”
The prosecutor did not offer an explanation. Judge Piao Jinshu acknowledged that the materials used to accuse Mr. Xin were uncertain.
The prosecutor also used the fact that Mr. Xin was detained for seven days in 2015 for filing criminal complaints against former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin as evidence. The trial lasted an hour.
When Mr. Xin's wife asked about the outcome of the trial, a bailiff forced her to leave the courtroom. She cried and protested and said that the police had submitted fabricated evidence against her husband.
Around twenty of Mr. Xin's friends and family members came to attend the trial. The judge barred them from entering the courtroom and allowed only three immediate family members to enter.
The captain and other officers from the Domestic Security Division and the local police department also audited the trial.
After the trial, Mr. Xin's family sent an appeal letter to the reception office of the Yinzhou District Court as well as the appeal office of the Yinzhou District Procuratorate, along with Mr. Xin's medical history and some recent cases in which Falun Gong practitioners were acquitted.
Mr. Xin has been arrested several times and tortured for telling the public about the communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong. He was incarcerated at the Tieling Forced Labor Camp, Guanshanzi Forced Labor Camp, and Liaoyang Forced Labor Camp. Details of the torture Mr. Xin had suffered previously are described in the report below.
