Ezhou Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested On Way to Attend Trial

December 05, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hubei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A trial was scheduled on November 21, 2017, for five Falun Gong practitioners in Wuhan City—Mr. Fu Guoqi, Ms. Xia Yulan, Ms. Xi Guoxiu, Mr. Chen Yanming, and Mr. Huang Liwu—who were arrested on July 12, 2016. When other practitioners learned of the trial, they boarded bus 101 to get to the court and attend the trial.

However, buses that were due to reach the court before 10 a.m. were intercepted at the Huarong traffic management station, where police boarded and searched every passenger's bags. Anyone suspected of being a Falun Gong practitioner was taken to the Huarong and Duandian police stations.

At the stations, the police took the practitioners' photos and forced them to say their names and addresses before releasing them at 6 p.m.

At least 20 practitioners were arrested and detained in this operation organized by the police department in Huarong District and Wuhan City. At the time of writing, the whereabouts of practitioner Li Shihong and another practitioner remain unknown.

In addition to carrying out the group arrest, the police also set up barriers and stationed a large number of officers outside the court.

Only two family members per defendant were allowed to attend the trial after going through a strict registration procedure.
