(Minghui.org) A 74-year-old ob/gyn doctor in Wujiaqu City was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Li Yulan used to suffer from a knee problem that was so severe that she faced the risk of amputation. Her symptoms, however, disappeared shortly after she began practicing Falun Gong. Having had firsthand experience with Falun Gong, she never wavered in her faith despite the ongoing persecution.
The local Wujiaqu police seized Ms. Li in March 2017 and ransacked her home on May 5. She was issued a formal arrest warrant on May 11 and soon released on bail. The local procuratorate filed an indictment against her on October 31, and she appeared in court on November 22. The local Kenqu Court sentenced Ms. Li to prison on December 11 and ordered her to be taken back into custody. She now remains at the Wujiaqu Detention Center.
