(Minghui.org) A Nanchang City resident was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan for exposing the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Ms. Yang Chunxiu was talking to a stranger about Falun Gong on February 17, 2017, when a police cruiser suddenly stopped and three agents jumped out to arrest her.

Police next found Ms. Yang’s husband and forced him to take them to his and Ms. Yang’s two residences, where they confiscated Ms. Yang’s Falun Gong books, cell phone, and the couple’s personal belongings.

Ms. Yang’s husband received a call from police on March 13, informing him that his wife would be tried the next day. He told some local Falun Gong practitioners, who went to the court together with him the following morning. The trial, however, was canceled.

The local Xihu District Court held a hearing on November 10. Several truckloads of special agents were sent in to patrol the courthouse during the trial.

Ms. Yang’s family received a copy of her verdict on November 15. She is now appealing her case from Nanchang City First Detention Center, where she remains since her arrest.
