Clarifying the Facts in a Detention Center
(Minghui.org) I was illegally arrested in 2016. When I was taken to a detention center, I suddenly displayed symptoms of a stroke and couldn't walk. Although I failed the physical examination, I was still kept in detention. When I was interrogated the next day, I stated that I had the right to pursue my beliefs and hadn't committed any crime. The interrogation ended after I refused to sign the arrest documents.
Whenever guards asked me to give up practicing Falun Dafa, I refused to do so. One inmate said, “We can help write a declaration stating that you will give up your faith so that you can go home. You can then continue with the practice at home.”
I told her that Falun Dafa teaches us to be good people, and that I could not betray my faith. The inmates subsequently changed their attitudes towards me, and I gained their respect. I told them how wonderful Falun Dafa is and treated everyone kindly. They allowed me to practice Falun Dafa freely in the cell.
I then openly clarified the facts about Falun Dafa to the inmates. Around two dozen people soon agreed to renounce their memberships in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and withdrew from its affiliated organizations. Everyone in the cell got along peacefully, and my health gradually improved.
I chatted with a business owner one day, who had been held for two and a half years. Many practitioners had previously told her the facts about Falun Dafa, but she didn't understand why they didn't pretend to give up their beliefs in exchange for freedom.
I told her she had been deceived by the communist regime's evil nature, and that the Party had used her to make money and let her become rich. They then enticed her to bribe greedy officials and put the blame on her. In the end, she was thrown into detention.
She said, “What you said is true. They supported me in business ventures and shared the profits. Eventually, they said I had committed crimes and they were innocent. Your words are so true. I've been used and persecuted by the communist regime. Falun Dafa practitioners are kind people. You were in poor health when you came in, yet you recovered without taking any medication. Your Master is indeed looking after you. I am a member of the Communist Party. Please help me quit the Party.”
She told me that her case had been on hold for more than two years. Not long after she renounced the Party, her case made progress. She was ecstatic, and remarked that Dafa was extraordinary.
One day a new prisoner came in who had no warm clothing to wear. The guards went around asking if anyone had a spare jacket, but no one responded, so I loaned her my jacket. The guards praised me in front of everyone, “Falun Dafa practitioners are kindhearted.”
After everyone in my cell had quit the Party, I was transferred to another cell where I met a fellow practitioner. She had been sentenced to three and a half years in prison [but was still being held in the detention center]. Her children were attending college and her husband couldn't work. So she was the sole breadwinner. Due to her financial situation, she depended on local practitioners to give her money and clothing. She said she missed her family.
When I learned of her situation, I tried my best to help her financially. Whatever she needed, I bought for her. I also shared my understandings of the Fa with her, and we recited the Fa teachings together. She soon made progress in cultivation. We also worked together in telling the inmates about the persecution of Falun Dafa.
We tried our best to follow Master's teachings, and everyone respected us. After learning the facts about the goodness of Dafa, inmates quit the Party one after another, without any prompting. When new inmates came in, we talked with them, and were often successful in getting them to accept the truth about Falun Dafa.
In the six months I was detained, I helped over 30 people quit the CCP, and let many more know the facts about Falun Dafa. I thank Master for his compassion.
