(Minghui.org) Mr. Pei Zhonghua, 72, was told to pick up his sentencing statement at the courthouse on October 9, 2016. The authorities picked him up when he got there and have since refused him access to his family or an attorney, leaving him vulnerable to torture and other abuses.

Mr. Pei was arrested along with another practitioner on January 14, 2016, for filing lawsuits against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese leader. Mr. Pei was released on bail five days later.

He was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 5,000 yuan on June 13, 2016. He appealed his sentence, but the appeal has been denied by the People's Intermediate Court of Huludao.

The presiding judge, Guan Shuseng, told Mr. Pei to go to the courthouse to pick up his sentencing statement on October 9. When Mr. Pei arrived, the police took him away.

His family later found out that Mr. Pei was taken to Suizhong Detention Center, and then to Jinzhou Prison the next day. In December 2016, the family was able to confirm that Mr. Pei was being held in the Shenyang No. 1 Prison.

Mr. Pei's family has not seen or heard from him since October 2016, nor have they heard from prison officials. They are very concerned about him.
