(Minghui.org) The presiding judge in the trial of a Falun Gong practitioner played the role a mediator when the defense lawyer scolded the prosecutor for failing to notify him of the prosecution evidence in advance.

Ms. Wang Yanxia, a 52-year-old resident in Benxi City, was seized from her home on June 28, 2016, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

During the trial on December 29, the prosecutor presented DVDs confiscated from Ms. Wang’s home as evidence against her. The indictment, however, never mentioned such evidence, as required by law. The lawyer demanded the DVDs be played in court for him to see, but none of the DVDs worked.

The lawyer said to the prosecutor, “You’re wasting my time! You didn’t even check your evidence before bringing it to court.” The judge promised to hold another hearing to discuss the prosecution evidence. He then adjourned the hearing.

While Ms. Wang remains in Caibei Detention Center, her elderly parents, both nearly 80, are struggling to fend for themselves.
