(Minghui.org) Based on my experiences while being detained, I believe that Dafa practitioners' righteous behavior gives people hope and encourages them to think well of Dafa.

Police Watch Dafa DVD

I was reported to the authorities in 2001 when I was distributing Falun Dafa informational DVDs. I was taken to the security office of a nearby hospital.

Officers from the local police department came to question me about the DVDs, so I calmly explained why I was distributing them and what was on them. I said I hoped that they would have a chance to see it.

Shortly after, a security officer brought in laptops, and they watched the entire DVD intently. One of the officers came over to me and said with a smile, “It looks like we're all going to practice Falun Dafa because of you.”

He also told me that one of their colleagues in the hospital was a practitioner who had gone to Beijing twice to appeal for the right to practice Falun Dafa.

Police and Inmates in Detention Center Change

While I was held in a detention center, the practitioners there conducted themselves according to Dafa’s standards, and the inmates were very friendly to us. We explained to them about how to deal with their situations based on Dafa’s principles.

A mute girl who was arrested for stealing liked to follow me and another practitioner around. The other practitioner taught her how to speak, and she was able to say a few phrases, which made her really happy. Another inmate wanted to read Zhuan Falun.

Our kindness changed the officials and guards, too.

When a guard saw me doing the exercises, he told the inmates nearby that his cousin got over his addiction to drugs by practicing Falun Dafa.

Another time, the director of the detention center saw me doing the exercises. He said to the person next to him that he did them, too.

The deputy director once saw me doing the standing exercises and tried to handcuff my hands and feet together. He and another guard kicked my legs, but they were unable to get me to squat down. As they were manhandling me, I told them of the benefits of practicing Dafa.

I could tell that he changed after hearing what I said, but he did not know how to back off. He said that he would not handcuff me if I gave up the practice. I refused. He then handcuffed me for a short time and released me.

The deputy director later questioned me about the Dafa books and materials that were circulating in the detention center. I told him that I had brought them with me, but that it was not important how they ended up inside. The important thing was that they taught people how to be good. The guards and inmates listened to what I had to say.

After that, the deputy director's attitude towards practitioners changed. He no longer interfered when we did the exercises and treated us kindly. The inmates were more afraid of him than anyone else and were surprised when he changed so dramatically.

As a practitioner, everything we say and do should reflect well on Dafa. Safeguarding Dafa is every practitioner's responsibility, because we know that Dafa is the sole hope for sentient beings to be saved.

When people observe practitioners’ determination and courage, they see there is hope that good will win out over evil.
