Additional Persecution News from China – July 12, 2016 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces. According to this report, 6 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 8 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Pingding County, Shanxi Province] Mr. Wang Jigui Passes Away Due to Persecution

Mr. Wang Jigui passed away as a result of being tortured in the Jinzhong Prison on June 2, 2016.

2. [Zhumadian City, Henan Province] Ms. Yan Huifang Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Yan Huifang was sentenced to three and a half years in prison at the end of June 2016. She will appeal.

She was arrested on October 21, 2015 for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. She has been held in the Zhumadian City Detention Center.

3. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Mr. Wu Chaoxuan Arrested, Harassed, and Passes Away

Mr. Wu Zhaoxuan from Baiyun District was arrested by officers from the Duxin Police Station in April 2016 for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese Communist Party leader who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. The police forcibly took blood samples and fingerprints from him, and subsequently harassed him. He passed away at home on May 9, 2016.

4. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Qi Xinmin Detained

Mr. Qi Xinmin was arrested on July 2, 2016. He is being held in the Anshan City Detention Center.

5. [Beijing] Ms. Lai Xiaoqing Held in Prison

Ms. Lai Xiaoqing was secretly sentenced to two and a half years in prison in March 2016. She was taken to the Beijing No. 2 Prison on May 11, 2016. No family visits have been allowed. She has been transferred to the Qianjin Prison.

She was arrested on July 20, 2015, and is being held in the Changping Detention Center.

6. [Daxing'anling Prefecture, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Hanming Detained

Mr. Liu Hanming from Jiagedaqi District was reported and arrested by officers from the Jiagedaqi District Police Department on June 30, 2016 for suing Jiang Zemin. He was detained in the Jiagedaqi Detention Center for 15 days.

7. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Xu Jianqiong Detained

Ms. Xu Jianqiong was arrested at work by officers from the Guangdong Province State Security Department on the morning of July 7, 2016. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Nanzhou Detention Center in Haizhu District.

8. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Jiang Aijun and Ms. Peng Fengjun Detained

Mr. Jiang Aijun and Ms. Peng Fengjun were arrested by officers from the Zifu Police Station when they distributed Falun Gong informational materials on the afternoon of July 4, 2016. Both practitioners were detained for 10 days.

9. [Linfen City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Meng Liqiang and Mr. Cui Guangfu Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Meng Liqiang was tried by the Yaodu District Court on April 25, 2016. His family received a verdict on June 15, 2016. Mr. Meng was sentenced to three years in prison. He has appealed to the Linfen City Intermediate Court.

10. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Fang Kuanfeng Facing Indictment for Practicing Falun Gong

No local lawyer dared to represent Mr. Fang Kuanfeng because the local judicial bureau threatened to revoke the license of whoever defends Falun Gong practitioners.

Both Mr. Fang and his wife were arrested in March and had their cash and bank cards confiscated.

His wife has been released due to poor health, but Mr. Zhang remains detained. His case has been forwarded to the local procuratorate, which by law means he could be indicted any time now.

11. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Two Practitioners Still Detained

Mr. Zhou Guangming and Mr. Zhao Chuanwen remains detained following their arrest on December 24, 2015 for talking to people about Falun Gong.

The authorities planned to prosecute the two Falun Gong practitioners, but failed to gather evidence against them.

Because the police refuse to release Mr. Zhou and Mr. Zhao despite their innocence, many local villagers signed petitions calling for their release.
