(Minghui.org) Through our many experiences of rescuing arrested Falun Dafa practitioners, we have found that cooperation and thinking of others first are of utmost importance.
We follow Master's teaching of “The next person's things are your things.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference”), and so give our best efforts to clarify the facts to the defense lawyers and family members of the detained practitioners.
In a recent attempt to rescue several local practitioners who had been arrested, we formed a small group, cooperated well with each other, and visited each of the practitioner's families to encourage them to hire defense lawyers.
Encouraging Family Members
The wife of one detained practitioner initially didn't want to cooperate with us, nor did she want to hire a lawyer to defend her husband in court. She was also strongly against getting her child involved because she worried about the child's safety, and the impact it may have on their future.
Practitioners patiently talked to her about Dafa and the persecution, and explained why it was important for her to help her husband. They encouraged her and told her that practitioners would be there to help every step of the way.
She eventually decided to help rescue her husband. She wrote a letter to the authorities explaining how her husband had given up all his bad habits after practicing Falun Dafa, how he subsequently treated his family better than before, and that he became a more conscientious worker.
We visited another family member who lives several miles away, and talked to him about the situation. He agreed to hire a lawyer. We asked him to bring the practitioner's child when we all met the lawyer so that we could explain to them all in detail about Dafa and the persecution, and the importance of rescuing the practitioner.
After we finished talking, the family members even started to discuss how to they could talk to the grandfather, and get him to quit the Chinese Communist Party.
Hiring Lawyers
In another instance, an elderly practitioner from a nearby town had been arrested.
After the initial court hearing, she developed sickness karma and was allowed to stay at home. The family hired a lawyer to defend her, but many of the statements made by the lawyer were slanderous towards Dafa.
We went to talk to the practitioner and her family about the situation. The practitioner realized that she should play the lead role, instead of the lawyer. The lawyer's job is merely to cooperate with her and to help with the legal details.
When practitioners work together to rescue arrested practitioners, we must cooperate well with each other and not insist on doing things our own way. When disagreements occur, we must all look within to find the cause.
Sometimes practitioners have complaints or concerns about the lawyers. We must immediately eliminate these thoughts. The lawyers are ordinary people, who dare to defend practitioners. We must encourage and support them. The old forces will try to exploit any gaps, so we need to protect the lawyers with our strong righteous thoughts.
We also need to be firm in our requirements when hiring a lawyer. We are not only trying to win the case, but also save more sentient beings in the process. All the people we meet during the process are people we need to save. With help from the lawyers, we often write to the courts and other government agencies to ask them not to arrest and prosecute practitioners.
As Dafa practitioners, we are working towards one goal in this lifetime - to assist Master and save more sentient beings.
We must let go of our egos, eliminate the factors of Party culture, become more compassionate, and walk well on the cultivation path that Master has arranged for us.
