(Minghui.org) A retired teacher from Harbin City is under criminal detention for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin. Ms. Yu Xiaoqing, 60, was accusing the former Chinese dictator of initiating the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in her past detentions.

Ms. Yu had her breasts removed 20 years ago, but the cancer still quickly spread to the rest of her body. As she was living out her final days, she came across Falun Gong and soon saw her symptoms subdued. Her asthma and allergy also got much better.

She, however, had a relapse of her breast cancer following her latest arrest on May 6 of this year. She is now in excruciating pain, but the police have so far refused to release her on medical parole or provide her with proper medical treatment.

Ms. Yu was summoned to the local police station in September of last year. The police instructed her to sign a blank piece of paper. She put down her name and was then told to write, “I promise to stop practicing Falun Gong” on the same paper.

She refused to comply, telling the police, “I’d have died of breast cancer long ago, had it not been for Falun Gong.”

Though the police let her go home that day, they came after her on May 6 of this year. She was home alone when an officer knocked on the door, saying that her car had blocked another car. She was arrested as soon as she stepped out of the door.

Her husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, was taken into custody as well.

Ms. Yu’s sister and her husband’s brother went to check on them the next morning after their phone calls to the couple went answered. They saw the door wide open, with a group of officers inside turning everything upside down.

Ms. Yu’s husband was released 15 days later, but she was placed under criminal detention. She soon had a relapse of her breast cancer while being held at Harbin Second Detention Center. Her family suspects the trauma of the arrest and lack of Falun Gong exercises contributed to her symptoms. They are calling for her release so that she can receive medical treatment.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 17 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
