Calgary: Practitioners Raise Awareness of Persecution in China at Canada Day Celebration
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners from Calgary, Canada, participated in the Canada Day celebration in downtown Calgary on July 1, 2016. They passed out brochuress, demonstrated the exercises, and called for help stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China. The tourists were especially pleased to be given hand-made paper lotus flowers.
Many people had never heard about the persecution and were shocked by the brutality, especially the state-sanctioned organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners in China. Some knew full well about the Falun Gong issue in China.
One Western gentleman told practitioners that he had learned about the latest developments in the anti-organ harvesting campaign from the Epoch Times newspaper, and he was happy the U.S. Congress had passed the recent resolution to condemn this crime.
Joseph, who used to work at a human rights organization before retiring, is also a long-time reader of the Epoch Times. He knew about the communist party’s notorious history and had high praise for Falun Gong's peaceful resistance.
Many people said that, if the international community would take action, the persecution could not continue.
Among the Chinese tourists at the Canada Day celebration, a retired Chinese military officer said to a practitioner: “I know Falun Gong is a peaceful group. The persecution is extremely unfair. The reason that the Party suppresses you is because the Party is evil, and good people make it uncomfortable. The Party will not give up until the good people are suppressed. It is great that you guys have kept up your peaceful resistance for so many years. It is truly remarkable.”
