(Minghui.org) The local police discovered that I was a Falun Gong practitioner and came to my apartment on January 22. They knocked and demanded that I open the door, but I refused. The officers stayed in the hallway.
When my child came home, I opened the door. About eight officers rushed in, showed a search and seizure warrant and ransacked the place. They confiscated my iPad, cell phone, a photograph of Master Li Hongzhi (the founder of Falun Gong), and other personal items.
Then, they were going to take me to a brainwashing center, but I refused to go, as I had not committed any crime. I told them that I practiced Falun Gong to be a good person, and it was Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime who was a criminal.
In frustration, they called an ambulance. The doctor said that I had high blood pressure and offered medication and an injection. He then wrote a statement that I had high blood pressure and demanded that the officers sign their names.
Everyone left, although the officers threatened to come back. Starting the next day, they stationed someone outside my door and put me under house arrest.
My family members recommended that I cooperate with the police. I did not relent, however, whenever my children went grocery shopping, I talked to whichever officer was stationed outside my door.
Misconceptions Breed Misunderstanding
The officers were surprised, but did not object that I talked to them. Some were the same age as my children, and some were the same age as my grandchild.
They said that they had met practitioners, but they did not know anything about our cultivation practice. They only knew that the government had banned this practice. They also felt intimidated by practitioners and believed they were scorned by them.
“It was because you only met practitioners for a short time,” I said. “They must not have had the time to talk to you in depth about Falun Gong, which must have caused some misunderstanding.”
Although I went into more in-depth detail about Falun Gong, I kept it to a minimum during the first time with each officer.
Once back in my apartment I reminded myself that if practitioners leave a bad impression with people, we might destroy them. Thus, I must talk to everyone involved in the surveillance about Falun Gong, as well as to my family, and ensure that they have a good impression of us.
The Importance of Quitting the CCP
I spoke to each officer. I began with the simple concept that Falun Gong requires its practitioners to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Then, I mentioned that people practice Falun Gong in more than one hundred countries.
I also told them that they should ask me questions They asked me about the “Tiananmen Self-immolation” incident; I raised several important points that showed it was a hoax staged by the government.
They wanted to know why Falun Gong is opposed to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). My answer was that it was the reverse. The CCP stated from the beginning of the persecution that it would destroy Falun Gong.
Then, I asked them to do an Internet search on their cell phones for the rock in Guizhou that has naturally formed Chinese characters that states “Heaven eliminates the Chinese Communist Party.” I suggested that this was a hint from heaven.
This helped me explain the importance of quitting the CCP and its associated organizations. They quit after I gave them a pseudonym.
A Good Relationship
There was one officer to whom I told the basic information about Falun Gong. Then, I expanded on what I had told him, using Christianity as an example. Practitioners being persecuted today is no different than Christians being persecuted thousands of years ago. It was just a different time and the methods the CCP has adopted were developed by persecuting people for decades.
“I like to listen to you very much,” he said. “I hope you won’t treat us like prison guards. We are here to form a good relationship. I hope you can treat us like your children. Please forgive us if we did anything wrong.”
When I responded, I had tears in my eyes. I told him that he was very kind, believed that we were predestined to meet, and asked him to quit the CCP, which he did.
He did not come back. Another officer told me that he was a police van driver, and he was transferred to another location. He had learned the facts about the persecution just before he was transferred.
Compliments Are a Test
One officer had been in the military before he had joined the police force. He had an outgoing personality, and I spent four hours chatting with him.
At first, he did not want to listen to anything about Falun Gong, although he appeared to be a nice person. Somehow my words resonated well with him, and he began to listen to me. I was careful not to arouse his negative thoughts and to let his kindness lead his thinking.
I told him that people throughout the world think well of Falun Gong, and are impressed by how its practitioners follow the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. To open his mind towards the truth of Falun Gong, I also told him about the rock with the Chinese letters, “Heaven eliminates the Chinese Communist Party.
“We have talked about you,” he said, “and think you are different than other practitioners. You are kind and do not scorn us. You are openminded, and we all like you.”
I knew that his compliments were tests for me, and I did not stir up any conceit. In the end, he also quit the CCP.
“Whether or not you listen is your choice”
One officer who was in his early 20’s appeared to feel superior to his colleagues. When I stepped outside my door, he warned me: “Don’t talk to me. I won’t listen. You go back inside.”
I was shocked but felt compassion for him. There were two officers on duty as usual, and the other officer kept quiet.
“I am three times older than you,” I said. “Why has an elderly person made you so upset? Is it because I practice of Falun Gong, or because you have been so deeply poisoned by the lies you have heard from the media? No matter for what reason, today, I have to speak up. Whether or not you listen is your choice. ”
Then, I told them about Falun Gong and that the divine beings are certainly aware of who is persecuting Falun Gong. “We Falun Gong practitioners talk to you while being persecuted, running the risk of being arrested and detained. We want you to have a good future.”
In the end I said, “My children, please remember Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good and Falun Dafa is good. Remember this, and you will be blessed.”
House Arrest Provides Truth-Clarification Opportunities
It has been 48 days since I have been put under house arrest. The above is just some of what I have experienced during this captivity.
I have done what Master Li has asked practitioners to do, which is to help awaken the conscience of people. Close to 20 officers have quit the CCP.
Four officers from the Qionghai City Domestic Security Division came to my home and interrogated me twice. I did not cooperate or sign my name on any document. They were angry and left.
I am still under police surveillance and house arrest. No matter how long this situation lasts, I will remember Master’s words:
