(Minghui.org) A Fenxi County resident was deceived into visiting the local police station, only to be sentenced to three years in prison months later.

Mr. Cui Guangfu was targeted because he filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong. Years ago, he was held in a forced labor camp for over one year for practicing Falun Gong.

The police called Mr. Cui on October 29, 2015 saying, “We need you to be here for some inquiries. It won’t take long. We should be done in 10 minutes.”

Mr. Cui hasn't returned home since. He was held in detention over the winter and tried on March 4 of this year. A three year prison sentence was handed down on April 1.

Mr. Cui’s fellow villagers were shocked by his sentence. They all knew how Falun Gong returned the 55-year-old man to health and helped him kick his addiction to playing Mahjong.

Back in late 1990s, Mr. Cui suffered from chronic fainting episodes. He would lose consciousness several times a day. While his wife was busy comforting their fussy three-year-old, their older son, only 7 at the time, had to run to village doctor or other adults for help.

Mr. Cui never fainted again after he began to practice Falun Gong. His fellow villagers couldn’t believe that he also stopped playing Mahjong easily.

Now that Mr. Cui was sentenced for exercising his rights to seek justice against Jiang, his fellow villagers have joined forces calling for his release. They signed petitions and mailed them to the local court.

Mr. Cui himself is appealing his sentence.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
