(Minghui.org) A family of three was having breakfast at a local diner on April 14, 2016, when several plainclothes officers showed up, pointed at the husband Mr. Sun Dekun and said, “You’re a thief!”
Mr. Sun protested, “No, I practice Falun Gong and would never steal!”
One officer slapped him in the face, “If I say you’re a thief, you are one!”
Several other officers knocked Mr. Sun down, handcuffed him, and covered his head with a black hood. His wife, Ms. Xing Anmei, and their daughter, Ms. Sun Yingying, were also handcuffed and taken to the police station.
The couple’s son, Mr. Sun Yingnan, returned home that night to find four men and a woman eating dinner in their home. They slammed him to the ground and handcuffed him.
The son was released on May 13, but his parents and sister were formally arrested the day before and are now facing possible indictment.
According to the arresting officers, the Sun family was targeted because they had filed criminal complaints against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in their past detentions.
In addition to the Sun family, 29 more practitioners from Shenyang City and its subordinate regions were also arrested between January and May of 2016. Shenyang authorities targeted these residents because they continued to resist the persecution of Falun Gong.
Some practitioners were arrested because they too filed complaints against Jiang Zemin, while others were arrested because they were reported or caught by the police distributing information exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. There were also a few practitioners who had been closely monitored by the police and were seized while going about their daily lives.
Many of the arrested also had their homes ransacked and valuables taken.

Heping District: Liu Xiuping and Ma Lie
Shenhe District: Li Yongdeng
Dadong District: Liu Shufen, Zhang Rufang, Tan Guiying, Yan Hong, Liu Baorong, and a female practitioner whose name remains to be investigated
Huanggu District: Zhang Shuxia, Zhang Shuying, Liu Shupan, and the four members of the Sun family
Hunnan District: Sun Ruijie
Sujiatun District: Shan Qinshu
Shenbeixin District: Niu Guifang, Lian Jing, and an elderly practitioner whose name remains to be investigated
Kangping County: Cui Rishao, Cheng Guohui, Qin Xiuqing, Ma Fengqin, Li Shuqin, Jia Shukun, Liu Fuying, and Liu Guiying
Xinmin City: Wang Jing and her mother
Liaozhong County: Chen Yan
It is unclear what district Liu Yaru is from.
Though some practitioners were released after brief detentions, Liu Shupan, Li Xiuping, and Sun Ruijie are still being held in Shenyang City First Detention Center, and Chen Yan in the Faku County Detention Center.
Jia Shukun, who was out on bail prior to the latest arrest, has now been taken to Shenyang Women’s Prison.
