A Hostile Business Environment Becomes Cheerful
(Minghui.org) I rented a storefront in a strip mall to expand my business in 2014. The owners of the neighboring store, who sold similar goods, were very hard to get along with.
They sometimes took my merchandise as theirs and then turned around to report me to the police, giving false evidence. When I had good business, they cursed me in front of my customers.
One day, a delivery person told me, “It's hard for businesses to survive here because of the bad reputation of selling counterfeits.”
He continued, “I know you practice Falun Dafa. Why don’t you show them your principles and positively influence your fellow merchants?”
I realized it was not enough to just ignore the taunts I received from my neighbors, so I proceeded to tell them that I live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I told them that this is why I refused to adulterate and sell counterfeit products. I also explained what I believe to be the potential consequences of deceiving customers with knockoff items.
I began to watch over their stores for them when needed, and even referred customers to them.
For a period of time, both of our stores were infested with mice, and a lot of goods were bitten and damaged. I thought about getting a cat at first, but then remembered that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. So I glued paper strips written with “Falun Dafa is Good” on the walls of my store.
I was not scared even when plainclothes officers came to check on me. About ten years ago, I was imprisoned for four years for refusing to renounce my faith. The local police continued to monitor me even after my release.
Before I knew it, the mice were gone. My neighbors were in awe and also put up “Falun Dafa is Good” messages in their store. Their mice problem soon vanished.
My neighbors not only stopped bullying me but also began to enjoy having a Falun Dafa practitioner as their next-door vendor.
The above-mentioned delivery person noticed the difference and praised that Falun Dafa practitioners are really different.
