(Minghui.org) A Shanghai woman had her upper body tied up for 16 days during her 23 days of detention for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Huang Qiaoqin was unable to move her arms or shoulders, and her hands became very swollen by the time the ropes were removed from her.

Now released, Ms. Huang recounts what happened to her.

Ms. Huang and three other Falun Gong practitioners were distributing informational materials in Qibao Town on March 15 when they were arrested and taken to Fengxian Detention Center.

To protest the illegal arrest, Ms. Huang refused to sign any document or wear the inmate uniform. Head guard Gu Jiajia flew into a rage. She instructed other guards to forcibly put the uniform on Ms. Huang.

Gu next wrapped ropes around Ms. Huang's upper body, so as to prevent her from taking off the uniform or do the Falun Gong exercises. She wrapped them so tightly that Ms. Huang couldn't move her arms or hands. She had to rely on others to feed her and help her use the bathroom. She also had trouble lying down to sleep.

Ms. Huang refused to renounce her faith, only to see the ropes tightened even further. Guard Shen also punished inmates who helped Ms. Huang with her daily activities.

The ropes weren't removed until 16 days later. Ms. Huang was released on April 7.
