World Falun Dafa Day event at Trädgårdstorget, Linköping, May 14, 2016
Local Falun Dafa practitioners in Linköping gathered at the central Trädgårdstorget Square to do the meditation exercises accompanied by calming music. This attracted the attention of people crossing the square and those walking on the main street, Nygatan.
Many took leaflets, and some stopped to learn more about Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong), and about the ongoing persecution of the practice in China by the Chinese Communist Party. Some expressed interest in learning the practice and promised to attend the Falun Dafa workshop on May 22 at the Da Vinci restaurant and a screening of the movie “Transcending Fear,” scheduled for May 23 in the same place.

A similar event was held at Slottsparken in Örebro, where passersby saw a demonstration of the five Falun Gong exercises and learned about the atrocities taking place in China.
World Falun Dafa is traditionally celebrated every year on May 13, which is the day when the founder of the practice, Mr. Li Hongzhi, started lecturing in China in 1992. This day also coincides with Mr. Li’s birthday.
Falun Gong practitioners in more than 100 countries organize festive events to mark this day with parades, concerts, and rallies. Apart from celebrating the benefits of Falun Gong, they also try to raise awareness and gather public support to stop the repression in China, which started in 1999.
