(Minghui.org) Yang Hunan, 42, an executive at the Gelin Precision Element Company, and his wife Cui Juan, both from Suzhou City, were arrested separately on March 13, 2016, and detained in the Suzhou No. 4 Detention Center.
Yang Hunan was arrested by officers from the Xiangcheng City Police Department Domestic Security Division while he was distributing Falun Gong materials on March 13. He was taken to the Yuanhe Police Station. No warrants were presented. The police said that they had been following him for a long time.
Mr. Yang's wife, Cui Juan, is a Korean language tour guide. Seven or eight police officers who were hiding at her home surrounded and arrested her when she returned home from work, and took her to the same police station. The couple were taken to the Suzhou No. 4 Detention Center the following day.
The police ransacked the couple's home and seized their car, and 20,000 yuan in cash. They also went to Mr. Yang's workplace to search it on March 26.
The couple's family went to the police station immediately after the arrest to help them, but the police lied and denied any knowledge of the arrest.
The family went to the Domestic Security Division and requested the return of Mr. Yang's car and the 20,000 yuan, but the police refused. When the family returned on April 20 and asked about the couple's case, the police scolded them and kicked them out of the building.
The police have thus far given no account for the arrest of the couple. They have also shown no search warrants nor provided a list of the items seized.
