(Minghui.org) Ms. Lei Yanhua from Chengdu City was arrested while visiting a friend on the second day of the 2016 Chinese New Year. She suspects that she had been followed by the police for her continued practice of Falun Gong.
The 61-year-old retiree has been repeatedly targeted for her faith ever since the Chinese communist regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong 17 years ago.
She was taken to Dongbao Police Station following her latest arrest on February 9. Several officers assaulted her, and their chief held his gun to her head to threaten her.
She was transferred to the local detention center in the wee hours of next day. The guards there directed inmates to strip her naked and punch her. They also poured buckets of cold water on her.
Her family hasn't received any formal notice from the authorities. They found out from the procuratorate's website that she was formally arrested on April 5, indicted on April 18, and had a trial scheduled for May 5.
Not knowing where she is being held, her loved ones are extremely concerned about her well being.
