Woman Wrongfully Sentenced to Three Years, Daughter Arrested while Protesting
(Minghui.org) After a trial and without her lawyer present on March 29, 2016, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Shuyan was sentenced to three years in prison by Yushu City Court on April 11 for telling people about the persecution of her spiritual belief.
Ms. Liu's 80-year-old mother, her brother, and several other relatives attended the hearing when the judge announced the verdict. When Ms. Liu's brother said that he would appeal the sentence, the judge ordered the bailiffs to take him out of the courtroom before he could finish. The entire sentencing process took seven minutes.
Daughter Arrested for Protesting Mother's Wrongful Sentence
Outside the court, plaintclothes police stood by the main entrance and side doors, and two officers stood on the roof, monitoring the situation.
When Ms. Liu's daughter protested her mother's wrongful sentence, the police arrested her and took her to Huachang Police Station. They kept asking whether she practiced Falun Gong herself.
Eight of Ms. Liu's family members came to the police station to demand her daughter's release. The police later released her after one and a half hours of interrogation.
