Additional Persecution News from China – April 5, 2016 (28 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 29 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 18 were illegally arrested. Several practitioners seeking to mail letters of complaint regarding Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme Court have met with obstacles.

1. [Hengtai County, Shandong Province] Mr. Ma Fujian on the Verge of Death

Mr. Ma Fujian, arrested in May 2015, was sentenced to a four-year prison term. He was recently take to Xinkang Prison Hospital in Jinan City for emergency treatment and is on the verge of death due to persecution.

2. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Xiai Detained

Ms. Zhang Xiai, in her 70s, was arrested by plainclothes officers from Nandi Police Station on March 13, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police confiscated Falun Gong books and approximately 400 yuan in cash which contained messages about Falun Gong. The police changed her age to 58. She was detained at a detention center for 15 days.

3. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Luo Chunrong and Ms. Tu Lin Detained

Ms. Luo Chunrong, 67, and Ms. Tu Lin, 64, were arrested on April 1, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They are detained at Erqibeilu Detention Center in Nanchang City.

4. [Qianan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Ma Qiang, Ms. Zhang Hong, and Ms. Liu Xiaofeng were arrested on April 1, 2016. Ms. Zhang was released and Mr. Ma and Ms. Liu are detained at Qianan City Detention Center.

5. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Fengtong's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Liu Fengtong was arrested on April 1, 2016, for distributing and posting informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.

6. [Rong County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhu Yuying's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Zhu Yuyin was arrested on March 31, 2016. Her whereabouts are unknown.

7. [Xiangcheng City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhao Yulan Detained

Ms. Zhao Yulan was arrested by officers from the Xiangcheng City Domestic Security Division on March 25, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She has been being detained since then.

8. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Changkuan Arrested

Mr. Yang Changkuan was arrested at home on March 22, 2016. The police ransacked his home and confiscated computers, printers, MP3s, Falun Gong books, and informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. He is detained at the Zichuan District Detention Center.

9. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Yajuan Persecuted

Ms. Xu Yajuan, 63, is detained in the No. 8 Ward of Liaoning Women's Prison. She was subjected to solitary confinement in a small cell for one month because she refused to do slave labor work. She was not allowed to wear shoes and was subjected to all kinds of tortures.

10. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Hu Zongxiang, in his 60s, Ms. Gao Dengmei, in her 60s, Ms. Ma Lianchun, in her 70s, and Ms. Cui, in her 50s, were arrested at home by officers from the Shiliulihe Police Station on March 25, 2016. The police ransacked their homes. Mr. Hu was released that day due to his physical condition. The rest were detained at a detention center for seven days.

Ms. Gao Dengxia, in her 40s, was also arrested on March 25. She was detained at a detention center for three days.

11. [Beijing] Ms. Cui Xuelei Detained

Ms. Cui Xuelei was arrested by officers from the Dongfangguangchang Police Station on February 26, 2016, for having Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. The police ransacked her home. She was taken to Dongcheng Detention Center for persecution.

12. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sheng Ping and Ms. Xue Detained

Ms. Sheng Ping, 66, and Ms. Xue were recently arrested. They were detained for seven days.

13. [Xian City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Li Dang Detained

Mr. Li Dang was arrested by officers, including Captain Huang Guoqiao and Deputy Director Wang Guoqiang, from the Lianhu Domestic Security Division and the Laodongnanlu Police Station on March 30, 2016. The police confiscated Falun Gong books, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, laptop computers, computers, and e-books. Mr. Li is detained at the Lianhu District Detention Center.

14. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Pan Guifen Arrested

Ms. Pan Guifen was arrested by officers from the local police station on April 3, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was released that day.

15. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Eight Practitioners Detained

Mr. Fu Chengrong, arrested on March 16, 2016, was detained for 15 days.

Mr. Liu Ming, arrested on March 17, and Ms. Huang Liping, arrested on March 19, were detained for 10 days.

Five practitioners were detained for 15 days. They are Ms. Zhang Shulan and Ms. Li Xiuling, arrested on March 21; Ms. Lu Jingrong and her daughter Ms. Zhang Yu, arrested on March 25; and Ms. Li Guiying, arrested on March 28.

16. [Qianxi County, Guizhou Province] Ms. Zhang Yanli Detained

Ms. Zhang Yanli was arrested by officers from Qianxi County on March 25, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese dictator. She is detained at the Tianpingtuoniaochang Detention Center.

Ms. Cao Ronghua was arrested by officers from the Laoyazhuang Police Station on April 4, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Zhao Yingfen was arrested at home by officers from the Baixiang County Police Department on January 1, 2016. She is detained at Xingtai City No. 1 Detention Center. Her case was submitted to Baixiang County Court and she is going to be tried.

Ms. Shen Shuling was arrested by officers from the Guard Office of Wuhan City No. 3 Hospital on March 31, 2016. She was taken to Etouwan Detention Center.

Mr. Wang Jianfu was sentenced to a seven year and six month prison term by Pinggu District Court. He was taken to Qianjin Prison on March 24, 2016.

23. [Guangshan County, Henan Province] Mr. Chen Lianghe Arrested

Mr. Chen Lianghe was arrested by officers from Zishui Police Station on April 1, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin.

24. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yu Jingxia Detained

Ms. Yu Jingxia was arrested by officers including Tian Lei and Huo Jingfeng from Xingfu Police Station on March 18, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin. She was detained at Qiqihar Detention Center for 15 days.

25. [Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wang Jianwu Sentenced

Ms. Wang Jianwu, 70, a doctor from Wuxi City Institute of Parasites, was arrested by officers from the 610 Office on July 15, 2015. She was later detained at Wuxi City Detention Center.

In January 2016, she was tried and sentenced to a five year prison term. She is imprisoned at Nantong Women’s Prison in Jiangsu Province.

26. [Xinbin County, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Sentenced

Four practitioners were arrested by officers from the Sankeyushu Police Station on June 26, 2015, while mailing complaint letters against Jiang Zemin at Sankeyushu Town Post Office. They are Ms. Zhang Fuchun, Ms. Deng Yuqing, Ms. Yan Guangling, and Mr. Zhang Guoyou.

Mr. Zhang Guoyou and Ms. Yan were released on bail and were awaiting trial after being extorted 10,000 yuan by officers from the Tonghua County Police Department on July 7, 2015. Mr. Zhang Fuchun and Ms. Deng have been detained at Tonghua County Detention Center.

The Tonghua Court illegally tried the four practitioners on March 31, 2016. Ms. Zhang Fuchun was sentenced to three and a half years of imprisonment. Ms. Deng, Ms. Yang and Mr. Zhang were to three years, respectively.

Mr. Zhang and Ms. Yan have been taken back to the detention center after the trial.

27. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ge Yanying and Ms. Chen Yan Sentenced

Ms. Ge Yanying and Ms. Chen Yan were each sentenced to a three year prison term on March 9, 2016.

28. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Yuqin Put Under Criminal Detention

Ms. Zhou Yuqin was arrested on March 18 for distributing information which exposes the persecution of Falun Gong. She was first given 15 days of administrative detention before being put in criminal detention. The change in her punishment means she faces prosecution for her faith.

The 63-year-old woman was twice given forced labor in 2000 and 2001, respectively, for refusing to give up Falun Gong. Following her arrest in 2000, she was made to lie on a wooden board with her limbs restrained for days on end. She had to relieve herself through a hole placed under her.

Her vision deteriorated during her first labor camp detention. For more than six months after she was released, she wasn't able to see or smell and had trouble walking by herself.

When her second labor camp term expired in 2002, the police took her straight to a local brainwashing center for further persecution. Her father was traumatized and died before she was released.

Ms. Zhou remains detained at the Wuhan First Detention Center following her latest arrest.
