(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa was introduced in my hometown in January 1996. My parents and sisters started to practice it, but I remained a firm atheist.
My understanding changed when my three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with an inflammation of the brain. Antibiotics did not help. When I was desperate, the doctor, a Falun Dafa practitioner, suggested that Dafa could save her.
I decided that I would take up this cultivation practice if my daughter recovered. I listened to the audio recordings of Master's Fa lectures with my daughter, who fell asleep as she listened. When she woke up, her fever was gone and she fully recovered. As promised, I started to practice.
No Cheating on Exam Resulted in Better Score
At the end of 1997, the employees in our department had to take an exam. A passing score would ensure a salary and benefit increase, while employees who failed would be laid off. During the test, exam rules were not strictly enforced and some employees cheated.
I finished the test quickly and estimated my score to be about 72. I struggled whether or not to cheat, but remembered that this would violate the Dafa principle of truthfulness. I wondered if my score would be high enough without cheating and noticed that everyone else was cheating. While struggling about what to do, I recalled what Master said:
“We cultivators always let things happen naturally. If something is yours, nobody will take it away, and if something isn’t yours, you won’t be able to get it even by fighting for it.” (Zhuan Falun)
“Ordinary people can’t grasp this truth, so they compete and fight when there’s something to gain at stake.” (Zhuan Falun)
Once I decided not to cheat, my mind was at ease, and I turned in my paper.
Many said they thought the exam wasn't difficult, so the failing score would probably be around 85. I felt very bad and wondered why cultivation was so hard. It was obvious that I was going to suffer losses.
I was worried when the test results were posted, but then I noticed that I was the only one out of six from my department that had a passing score. I thanked Master sincerely.
Dafa Brings Benefits
I bought a large apartment from my employer in 2004 and incurred a debt of over 100,000 yuan. It was a huge financial burden.
My husband, who once opposed my practicing Dafa, began to read Zhuan Falun. He was amazed by its principles and decided to start cultivating in 2005. His chronic liver disease disappeared, and his face glowed. He could return to work and work on several projects.
We realized that we should provide Dafa informational materials to fellow practitioners, so we bought a computer and a printer.
My husband got a raise and a bonus, which was unexpected. We paid off the mortgage.
Master said:
“That's because human beings all have debts to pay off that are owed over here and owed over there, and everybody has suffering they have to go through, and it's precisely during such difficulties that you show whether you can cultivate. If you can, then everything might change. But your cultivation has to be solid, real, and self-motivated.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference”)
Police Interference Resolved
Several other practitioners and I went out to distribute materials and talk to people about Dafa. Someone reported us to the police. About six officers showed up and followed us. We asked Master for help and hid the Dafa materials that were in the car.
The police asked for our names and addresses, but we refused to cooperate. They searched the car and didn't find anything. We kept sending forth righteous thoughts.
I then called my husband. A friend of the police department director who was not opposed to Dafa came and resolved the problem for us.
Daughter Returns to Dafa
My daughter practiced Dafa with me when she was a child. Before July 20, 1999, she attended a Fa-study group and went to the practice site every day. She considered herself a young Dafa disciple, and adhered to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
When the persecution of Falun Dafa escalated, we did not realize that she needed guidance. In school, she became selfish and a party girl. Her grades suffered. She stepped away from Dafa. We knew that we could not discipline her using everyday people's methods and tried to bring her back to Dafa.
Master said:
“The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts.” (“Drive Out Interference” in Essentials for Further Advancement II)
We asked her to take her electronic Dafa book with her to school and recite Hong Yin on the way to school. When there were conflicts with classmates, we guided her to use Dafa principles, forgive others, and look at their good side.
Gradually, her thinking started to align with Dafa. She read the books diligently, sent righteous thoughts, and talked to people about this cultivation practice. Her grades improved, and she was admitted to her chosen college.
In my heart I believed that my daughter was born to me so she could become a practitioner. I had to guide her despite my attachments. If a child is disobedient or has poor grades, we should look within to find our attachments, and guide the child with Dafa's principles. When the child is on the right track in cultivation, everything will be all right.
