(Minghui.org) I knew two families in which a household member had developed a fatal illness. One quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), embraced the goodness of Dafa and recovered from his illness. The other had a different outcome.

I live on the fifth floor of a condominium complex, a couple in their 50s who are teachers used to live upstairs, and another family I know live downstairs.

The man who lived in the upper apartment was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and went to Beijing for surgery in early 2009. After he came back, I almost did not recognize him. He used to be tall and strong, but he had become very skinny and was unable to speak. In tears, his wife told me that he was being treated with chemotherapy, and the doctor had given him only six months to one year to live.

The next day I visited them, and talked to them about Falun Dafa and used my personal experiences to explain the goodness of Dafa. I told him that as long as he withdrew from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, and often recited “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” he would be blessed. I gave them a Dafa amulet. He held the amulet and kept nodding while I was talking. His wife said they wished to quit right away. She thanked me again and again.

The man of the household who lives downstairs was in his 50s. He used to own a restaurant, but the business had not done well. He was still in debt after selling the restaurant. To pay off the debts, he took a job at a construction site. After about eighteen months, he was diagnosed with leukemia. He had to go to the hospital everyday for treatments, as he could not afford to stay in the hospital.

When I met him in the hallway, I asked him to recite “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” He responded, “I don't believe in that.” Without looking at the amulet, he rushed into his home. I felt very sad for him. He passed away several days later, and his daughter-in-law said the hospital had given him the wrong medicine. Because of some problems, they could not even sue the hospital.

One year later, my upstairs neighbor sold the condo and moved into a single-family house. I later ran into them in 2014 at a grocery store. Looking at the healthy couple I thought, “One thought can determine life or death!”
