Four Women Arrested for Handing Out Literature

(Minghui.org) As they handed out information about Falun Gong, four women in their fifties were arrested on February 26, 2016.

Ms. Wang Qing, Ms. Huang Lihua, Ms. Gao Jingyun, and Ms. Yang Shujun, all from Zhaodong City, Heilongjiang went to a village to tell people about Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) persecution. Police arrived after receiving a report and arrested them.

Police first took the women to the Zhaodong Police Department, and then to the 610 Office. The officers searched their bags and confiscated over 100 pamphlets about Falun Gong and the CCP's persecution.

Police asked them to sign a document, but the practitioners refused, as they knew the arrest was illegal.

Police took them to Zhaodong Detention Center at night. These four women then began a hunger strike there to protest their arrest.

On March 4, police took them to the No. 301 Hospital in Harbin city, Heilongjiang for a physical examination. They were later placed in separate detention centers, Ms. Wang and Ms. Huang in Anda Detention Center, and Ms. Gao and Ms. Yang in the Suihua Detention Center. The weather at this time of year was very cold.

Ms. Wang was tortured as soon as she arrived in detention. Several guards—male and female—kicked, punched, and verbally abused her. One shocked her with an electric baton.

Afterward, guards took her outside and poured cold water over her. Ms. Wang could not breathe and when she opened her mouth, the water choked her.

Guards carried her inside to a solitary cell and tortured her on the “tiger bench.”

Ms. Wang's blood pressure shot up 170 mm Hg. The detention center called her family to take her home the next morning.
