(Minghui.org) As part of a team that makes phone calls to China to let people know about Falun Dafa and the persecution, a main part of my responsibility is to call Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in Jilin Province.
Many officials quietly listened to my message, but few agreed to quit the Party. I did notice however, that other practitioners had helped many people quit. I wondered what was going on and felt deep regret. They seemed happy to listen to me, but didn't want to quit the Party. So I feared that they may ultimately miss the opportunity to belong to the new cosmos.
Master said:
“So if they want to make it to the next phase, Chinese people must publicly announce their resignations from the Party. They must take action to make the announcement, and it's not acceptable simply to take a stand without any action.” (“Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005”)
Changing my Approach
I looked within and found some of my shortcomings.
One of the problems was my approach. When I contacted someone, I often spoke over their heads and was too concerned about expressing my own opinions.
I told them that the CCP had done so many bad deeds, including organ-harvesting from living prisoners of conscience. I gave them a lot of information and expected them to be touched. So why didn't they want to quit the Party?
I realized that these people may not share my opinions or understandings, and thus their reactions would differ from mine.
As Dafa practitioners, we must be considerate of others. If we speak with a selfless attitude and have them in mind at all times, they would be much more willing to agree with us.
Master said,
“I often say that if all a person wants is the well-being of others and if this is without the slightest personal motivation or personal understanding, what he says will move the listener to tears.” (“Clearheadedness,” from Essentials for Further Advancement)
Our goal in calling people in China is to expose the perpetrators of the persecution in a given area, inform them of the crimes of organ-harvesting, and help them quit the CCP.
I focused a lot on telling them about organ-harvesting when I made calls because I believe this is extremely evil, but I failed to make saving them the top priority by getting them to withdraw from the CCP.
When I searched inside and found my shortcoming, I realized that the mindset of a practitioner is extremely important as it can affect the outcome of what we are trying to achieve. My thought process was limited to what I had on my mind and, thus it reduced the power of saving people.
Adjusting my Approach Brings Better Results
I adjusted my approach when I made another phone call. I kept calm, compassionate and maintained strong righteous thoughts. I also avoided the word “you” and used “us” instead. This small change improved the connection between me and the listeners.
When one village official answered my call, I immediately started talking about organ-harvesting. He hung up after he listened for a while, and didn't pick up the phone when I called again.
I realized that I was doing wrong, and rang him a third time. This time he answered. My thought was on saving him. I told him not to persecute Dafa practitioners, as those that persecute practitioners would ultimately be brought to trial! I asked him, “What would you do at that time? It would be better not to be involved. The best way to protect oneself is to take a righteous course and quit the CCP.”
He thanked me for ringing him back and quit the Party. He must have felt my compassion for him.
By making phone calls to China I am able look within and improve my xinxing. I need to cultivate more diligently, study the Fa, send righteous thoughts and help Chinese people understand the truth about Falun Gong. By doing this, I will not let Master down.
