(Minghui.org) A Qiqihar resident was sentenced to a four-year prison term for accusing former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin of ordering the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in her previous five-year imprisonment.
Ms. Nie Xiuchun remained bedridden for years when she was young. She credited Falun Gong for helping her regain mobility and return to the workforce. Her happy life didn’t last long though, as Jiang launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in 1999.
Ms. Nie was sentenced to a five-year prison term in 2007 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. Her husband divorced her while she was incarcerated.
She filed a criminal complaint against Jiang in July 2015, holding him responsible for her lengthy imprisonment and broken family.
The local police responded by arresting her again on December 21, 2015. She was tried on July 19, 2016 and soon given a four-year prison term.
Ms. Nie has filed an appeal to Nongken Intermediate Court and Intermediate Procuratorate.
Background Information
Jiang Zemin, as head of the CCP, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong in July 1999.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 17 years. More have been tortured for their belief, and even killed for their organs. Jiang is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the CCP established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. This organization overrides the police and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's policy regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising this right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
