My own experience has testified to this. My wife has practiced Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) for 20 years, and the whole family has benefited greatly.
Practicing Falun Gong Changed Her
Nobody believed that my wife would become a Falun Gong practitioner. She used to gamble, smoke and drink all night long. If she lost money from her gambling, she was quick-tempered and quarreled with me when she got home. I did all the housework.
My life turned around after she started to practice Falun Gong in 1995. As a practitioner, the first thing she did was get rid of her bad habits and not fight back when insulted. She never argued with me from then on and began to cook and do other household chores.
She would go to the group practice site and study the teachings every day. She enjoyed good health and became full of energy. Her skin became delicate and fair with rosy cheeks. Our neighbors were amazed at her transformation.
Family Suffers from Persecution
After July 1999, the persecution started and the local authorities arrested my wife. They accused her of being the local group leader because she used to clean the group practice site and volunteer to teach beginners the exercises. She was tied down on the death bed during detention for days at a time.
Afterward, the authorities kept coming back to my home and arrested her at will from 1999 to 2004. My wife did not spend a single Chinese New Year at home due to the arrests. When our son was in middle school, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor, for which our son was ridiculed at school.
After she was released from the labor camp, the factory where we worked closed down and we lost our jobs. We were forced to go out of town and look for temporary work. My wife worked as a baby sitter for years while I could not find any job for a long time. Our son soon came to live with us out of town and the burden to support the whole family rested on my wife's shoulders.
As my wife put a lot of effort and energy into her work, her wage was much higher than average. At the same time, she managed to find time to go out and distribute Falun Gong materials.
I started to help her. She told me that giving people Falun Gong material was like Noah building the ark to save people from the great flood. Those who were willing to read the material and quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had obtained a ticket to the ark.
Practitioners like my wife have been putting forward their best efforts in the past 17 years no matter how harsh the environment is or how people treated them.
Life-Saving Experience at Work
Through the years I have had several dangerous encounters at work. I think it was because of my wife's practice of Falun Gong and my helping her in distributing Falun Gong materials that the potential grave danger was avoided.
One day I went for a walk during lunch break with a coworker near the construction site I was working at. Suddenly I felt a strong force pushing me away from the curb and I fell to the ground.
As I got up and tried to figure out what had just happened, I saw my coworker's head rolling on the ground, separated by some unknown object flying by. I knew Falun Gong’s Teacher had saved me from a freak accident and told other coworkers about it. After that, they asked me for Falun Gong amulets and became more convinced that quitting the CCP could save their lives.
Another incident happened when I worked in a fabric dye factory. My hand was accidentally sucked into the rollers of the dying machine. The rollers would normally crush any body part.
Somehow I managed to pull my hand out, but my thumb had become a blob of blood. I was rushed to a local hospital and underwent a six-hour surgery. The doctor told me that my thumb would be disabled and unusable. My wife cared for me during the hospitalization and told me to recite “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” I followed her advice and my thumb completely recovered over time.
Enjoying a Comfortable Life
My family has benefited in other aspects of our daily lives as well. My wife has not needed any medication in the past twenty years. Other family members rarely got sick.
Now I am working in a private company and enjoy a decent salary of around 5,000 yuan. Sometimes it can go as high as 10,000 yuan when you count the bonus. We have purchased a car and a 1,400 square foot house in the city. These are beyond our wild imagination and well above the normal life standard of our peers.
My son has grown up to be a good young man. My daughter-in-law is a Falun Gong practitioner. She is a great cook and is very diligent doing household work. They don't have the bad habits common to other young people of their generation. Our friends and relatives have frequently expressed to us that they envy our family and our lives. I know better—I attribute our good fortune to Falun Gong.
