Additional Persecution News from China – September 28, 2016 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 23 were illegally arrested.

1. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Zhuang Detained

Mr. Wang Zhuang was taken to the No. 0605 Ward of Dalian City Detention Center on July 19, 2016.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Hongzhen Detained

Ms. Zhang Hongzhen, in her 50s, was arrested on September 26, 2016, for distributing Falun Gong materials. She is being held in Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center.

3. [Pingjiang County, Hunan Province] Mr. Ouyang Zhenran Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Ouyang Zhenran, an employee at Shangtaishi Town Forestry Station, was arrested at work by officers from Shangtaishi Town Police Station on the morning of September 27, 2016. He was taken to a brainwashing center.

4. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhu Yulian, 57; Ms. Li Shixia, 66; Ms. Qu Yuexian, 80; Ms. Gao Qiongxian, 78; Ms. Lu Changying, 76; and Ms. Deng Guiying, 73, were arrested on the morning of September 24, 2016, and taken to Jinning Police Station for distributing Falun Gong materials.

They were then taken to Jinning Hospital, where they were searched, had their photos taken, were given a physical exam, and had blood samples taken. They were then taken to Kunming City Police Department, where they again had physicals their blood drawn.

They were taken back to local police department on September 25. The four practitioners over 70 were released on bail after 2,000 yuan in cash was extorted from each of them. The situations of the remaining two practitioners are not clear.

5. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Li Guohua and Ms. Ma Qiuzhen Detained

Mr. Li Guohua was arrested and taken to Qingling Detention Center in the Wuchang District by officers from Xujiapeng Police Station and staff of the local residential committee in late April 2016. Mr. Li was later taken to Yangyuan Brainwashing Center. He was then transferred to Qingling Detention Center after refusing to be “transformed.” He has been held there ever since.

Ms. Ma Qiuzhen was arrested at the same time. She became disoriented in the brainwashing center. She sometimes cries and sometimes laughs.

6. [Kuancheng County, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Jin Wensheng, Mr. Wang Zhong, and Ms. Wang Suqin were reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in Erdaohe Village on the afternoon of September 26, 2016. They were arrested by Ma Fei, deputy head of the Domestic Security Division, and other officers. They were held in the basement of the police department. The officers searched them and took their phone books and Falun Gong materials. Ms. Wang has not yet returned home.

7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qi Lin Detained

When Ms. Qi Lin was lured into opening her door, officers from the Kaixuanlu Police Station in the Kuancheng District forced their way in on September 21, 2016. They ransacked her home and confiscated 45 Falun Gong books. Ms. Qi was arrested and held in Changchun City Detention Center for five days. She has returned home.

8. [Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhou Yuqin, Ms. Shi Xuemei, and Mr. Liu Jianhua from Huidong County were arrested at home by unidentified people at noon on September 24, 2016. Those carrying out the arrestes ransacked the practitioners' homes and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, computers, printers, and other items.

9. [Yongzhou City, Hunan Province] Three Practitioners Taken Into Custody

Ms. Li Deying from Lanshan County was reported for distributing Falun Gong materials in Heting Town, Ningyuan County, on the evening of September 23, 2016. She was arrested by local police and has not yet returned home.

Mr. Zhou Fangjun from Lanshan County was arrested by officers from the county 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division on September 24, 2016. He has not returned home.

Mr. Zhu Lingyun was also arrested. He has not been released.

10. [Zhumadian City, Henan Province] Ms. Shao Xiayun and Daughter Ms. Li Jing Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Shao Xiayun was given a three-year-and-three-month prison term. Her daughter Ms. Li Jing was given a three-year prison term.

11. [Yangtai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jia Shoufen Given a Three-Year Prison Term

Ms. Jia Shoufen was tried in Development Zone Court on March 24, 2016. The court sentenced her on September 27 to three years in prison.

Ms. Jia had been arrested and taken to Yantai City Detention Center by officers from Jinqiao Police Station in the Development Zone on July 21, 2015.

12. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yu Huixia Tried

Ms. Yu Huixia was tried on September 23 for “using a cult to undermine law enforcement,” a standard pretext used by the Chinese communist regime to frame and imprison Falun Gong practitioners.

Both she and her lawyers argued that no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong. They challenged the presiding judge to specify what law she “allegedly” broke or what “harm” she caused to society.

The judge refused to answer.

The prosecution's evidence listed DVDs confiscated from Ms. Yu’s home. Her lawyers requested that the disks be played in the courtroom, but the judge turned them down.

The Langfang City resident remains detained following her arrest on June 21, 2016.

13. [Anlu City, Hubei Province] Mr. Huang Xuejun and Mr. Wang Huashan Transferred to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Huang Xuejun and Mr. Wang Huashan were arrested when they went to visit Ms. Sun Youlan on September 10, 2016. They were held in Anlu Detention Center.

They were transferred to Hubei Provincial Brainwashing Center on September 23, 2016.

14. [Shanghai] Ms. Yang Yaping Sentenced

Ms. Yang Yaping from Funing County, Jiangsu Province, was tried in the Minhang District Court in Shanghai on September 27, 2016. She was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison. She is about to appeal.

Ms. Yang was arrested on August 20, 2016, while she was working in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. She was held in the Fengxian District Detention Center in Shanghai. She was confined and shackled for more than two weeks because she refused to wear a prisoner's uniform.

15. [Mengzi City, Yunnan Province] Ms. He Lianchun’s Parents File Complaint

Ms. He Lianchun was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2009 and held in Yunnan No. 2 Women’s Prison. She was beaten and force fed drug(s). Ms. He was on the verge of death several times. Her parents are very worried about her.

The prison often refused to allow her family to visit her. Ms. He’s parents filed a complaint against the prison. They also sent letters to the warden, the director of inspection, and the section head of the Prison Management Section on August 25, 2016, urging them to treat Falun Gong practitioners kindly.
