(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Zhiyu, 29, from Chaoyan City, Liaoning Province, was arrested at home on August 17, 2016. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his computers and other personal belongings. He is being held in the Xidayingzi Detention Center.
His father, under duress, suffered a stroke and was hospitalized.
Arrested and Tortured
Mr. Liu, a former employee of Riyueming Animation Studios, was first arrested at work in April 2009 for clarifying the facts about Falun Gong on the Internet. He was sentenced to a four-year prison term and held in the Naguanling Prison in Dalian City.
While imprisoned, he was beaten, kicked, denied restroom use, deprived of sleep, and forbidden from talking to others in the prison.
He was also locked in a small cell, and forced to sit on a small bench for long periods of time watching videos that slandered Falun Gong. Two inmates monitored him around the clock.
When he was too tired and fell asleep, the inmates rubbed his face with a cold towel or whipped him. If he resisted, he was gagged, held to the ground, and beaten. His mouth and nose bled many times. He was tortured this way for seven days and nights. His eyes, face, and nose were bruised and swollen for a month as a result.
