Additional Persecution News from China – September 19, 2016 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 28 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 8 were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Ms. Weng Ping Given a One-year-and-four-month Prison Term

Ms. Weng Ping was given a one-year-four-months prison term by the Changning District Court on the afternoon of September 18, 2016.

2. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Mei Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Zhang Mei, in her 40s, from Xinfeng Town, was pushed to the ground by two officers from the Guanghan Development Zone Police Station on the morning of September 16, 2016 for talking to people about Falun Gong. The officers dragged her into a police car and drove away. Her whereabouts is unknown.

3. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Yonggang and Wife Ms. Wang Xiaoping Detained

Ms. Li Yonggang and his wife Ms. Wang Xiaoping were held in the Duorong Detention Center in Ya'an City.

4. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

The Dongying District Court held a trial at the Binhai Detention Center against four practitioners from the Shengli Oilfield, on the afternoon of September 18, 2016.

Ms. Chen Yin was sentenced to five years in prison, Ms. Liu Xuemin to one-and-a-half years, Mr. Shi Qiang to two years, and Ms. Pan Yuying to three years.

5. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liang Yudi Detained

Ms. Liang Yudi from Yangjiashan Village, Lidao Town, was arrested by officers from the 110 (Emergency) Response Unit for talking to people about Falun Gong on September 17, 2016.

6. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

The Weifang City Court sentenced three practitioners to prison on September 6, 2016 without notifying their families.

Ms. Sun Jianchun and Ms. San Cunwei were given a four-year prison term and Mr. Li Zuping a three-and-a-half-year prison term.

7. [Qingdao city, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Xuehua Detained

Ms. Zhang Xuehua, in her 50s, from Huangdao District, lost touch with her family after leaving town at the end of August 2016. It was not until September 13 when her family learned that Ms. Zhang had been detained in the Pudong Detention Center in Jimo City.

8. [De'an County, Jiangxi Province] Five Practitioners Harassed

Jin Xiaoxiang, an officer from the Puting Town Police Station, broke into Ms. Zhou Yudi's home in August 2016 and harassed her. Jin forced Ms. Zhou's son to call his mother, who had gone to Jiangsu Province, to return home immediately. Upon her return, Jin questioned her about her lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong.

Jin pressured Ms. Zhou to sign a statement that required her “not to file any other lawsuit against Jiang, not to distribute any more Falun Gong truth-clarification materials, not to participate in gatherings, and not to talk to others about the facts of Falun Gong.”

Jin broke into Ms. Chen Taorong's home on September 14, 2016, and ransacked it. He confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong, and other Falun Gong books.

That same day, Jin went to Mr. Hu Renzhuo's workplace at the De'an County branch of the Agricultural Bank of China. Jin threatened Mr. Hu not to sue Jiang Zemin.

In addition, Mr. Lan Minghua and Ms. Zhang Dexiu were harassed at home by officers from the Hedong Police Station for suing Jiang Zemin.

9. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Six Practitioners Facing Trial

Mr. Dong Huaxin, Ms. Zhao Xiaomei, Mr. Wang Yongchang, Mr. Pang Litao, Mr. Mao Yaning, and Mr. Liu Qianli were arrested in August 2015.

The six practitioners were to be tried on the morning of September 19, 2016 at the Taocheng District Court.

10. [Dong'an County, Hunan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

The party secretary of Jingtouxu Village and others officials from Jingtouxu Town arrested Mr. Wen Changgui, Ms. Wen Jingxuan, and Mr. Jiang Zaisheng on the afternoon of September 6, 2016.

11. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Xiao Xiaoping Detained, Family Visits Denied

Ms. Xiao Xiaoping was arrested by two plainclothes officers for talking to people about Falun Gong in Suxiangling area on the morning of September 15, 2016. She is being held in the Chenzhou City Detention Center. Family visits have not been allowed.

12. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Mr. Jiang Peifa Detained

Mr. Jiang Peifa was arrested and taken to the Suxian District Police Station on August 23, 2016. He was forced to put his fingerprint on guarantee statements. Mr. Jiang was taken to the Chenzhou City Detention Center that evening. He was released on September 3, 2016.

13. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lian Jing Given a Three-year Prison Term

Ms Lian Jing was sentenced to three years in prison on July 27, 2016 by the Shenbei New Area Court.

14. [Haicheng City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang De Facing Trial

Mr. Zhang De was to face trial on September 21, 2016.

15. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Zhang Fengxia, Ms. Yu Qing, and Ms. Gao Guizhen were arrested by officers from the Daoli 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division for hanging banners on the evening of August 22, 2016. Their homes were ransacked. They are being held in the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center.

16. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Chen Weiquan and Wife Ms. Pan Xihua Detained

Ms. Pan Xihua from Didao District was arrested by Jin Hui and other officers from the Didao District Police Department's Domestic Security Division at the Jixi Train Station. She was detained for 15 days.

Ms. Pan's husband Mr. Chen Weiquan was also arrested at home that day by officers from the police department. He was detained for 10 days. He was released on September 10, and his wife returned home on September 15, 2016.
