(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wei Jianhua from Inner Mongolia was arrested in October 2015. Her home was ransacked. The procuratorate approved the arrest. She is detained at the Wulanchabu City Detention Center. Her attorney was denied visitation rights.
Arrest and Ransacking
Six plainclothes people arrived at Ms. Wei's residence in Wutaiwa Village, Fengzhen City on October 21, 2015. A young woman carried a camera. They said they were police officers and were there to arrest Ms. Wei.
Ms. Wei asked that they show their identification, but they refused. One person flashed his ID at Ms. Wei's husband, but did not let him see it clearly. Ms. Wei was dragged from her home by the police. They also confiscated a cell phone and a laptop.
Zhao Yanhong and Liu Yaoting from the Fengzhen City Police Department went to Ms. Wei' s home one hour later, ransacked it and confiscated another computer, a printer, over 800 yuan and other personal items without showing any identification or a search warrant.
Ms. Wei's husband was outside his home. He was taken to the police department in the afternoon. There he learned that it was Liu Yaoting who had ransacked his home. He was forced to put his fingerprint on the arrest record.
Three police officers, including Liu Yaoting went to Ms. Wei's home again the next morning. They tried to confiscate a copy machine, but were stopped by Ms. Wei's husband. None of the officers wore a uniform, or showed any ID or search warrant.
Ms. Wei's husband was called to the police department again in the afternoon. He was forced to put on his finger prints on some documents, but he had no idea what they were. He has yet to see any search warrant or receive any list of confiscated items.
Attorney Denied Rights to Visit Ms. Wei
Ms. Wei's family hired an attorney, surnamed Bao, from Datong City. He submitted an inquiry to the procuratorate and police department. He requested to meet Ms. Wei, but was refused. Mr. Bao was put under pressure and reneged on his contract after three days.
Thus, Ms. Wei's family hired an attorney from Beijing on November 19. The attorney went to the detention center to visit Ms. Wei.
A guard at the detention center examined the attorney's documents. After he checked his computer, he told the attorney that he could not see his client. The attorney requested the contact information for the officer who is in charge of the case, but the guard refused.
Ms. Wei's attorney sought help from other officials at the detention center, but he still was not permitted to see her. He was unable to contact the deputy director of the detention center. He was told that the director instructed the staff to deny him access to his client.
