(Minghui.org) While in junior high, my youngest son became afflicted with a strange illness. He was unable to wash his hair for fear of catching a cold, and he could not undertake strenuous activities because he would become extremely weak.
At one point he was unable to stand or even turn when lying down. Unable to hold his chopsticks, he had to rely on others to feed him, and even urinating was so difficult that we resorted to a catheter before his condition got any better.
One day after my husband and I returned from the fields, he lay motionless in the yard. Uncertain as to how long he was there, we tried to carry him into the house. However, given his tall, heavy physique, we could not move him and we could only cry in sadness and frustration.
Doctors at the city hospital were unable to diagnose his illness, though they found out that he suffered from a severe potassium deficiency. Injecting him with a potassium chloride solution helped his condition, but his symptoms recurred days later.
Living in a poor mountain village, our family relies on farming to earn our annual income, about 3,000 yuan. We could not afford to have him admitted to a better hospital in a big city like Beijing.
Turning Point in Our Life
I began to practice Falun Dafa in 1997. My son sometimes read my Dafa books, and he began to recite, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion -Forbearance is good” whenever he felt uncomfortable. And on occasions when he was unable to move, he would shout, “Master, please help me!” He would reassure my husband and me that he was fine, that Master protects him.
Gradually, his illness recurred with less frequency and intensity. Slowly over the next 10 years, he recovered without any modern medical treatment.
He also used to smoke and drink alcohol. After he read Zhuan Falun, however, the main book of Dafa, he quit these bad habits. Now he is healthy and helps us in the fields, especially with anything that requires manual labor like hoeing, harvesting of crops, and moving heavy building materials.
Although he is not a Falun Dafa practitioner, my son tries to follow Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He seldom loses his temper, is always cheerful, and gets along well with his brother, sister, and sister-in-law.
My son stayed by my side and took care of me after my husband passed away. He undertook this burden willingly, patiently taking care of any of my requests and making sure to prepare food that I like. Because he read Dafa books and understands the truth about this cultivation practice, he tries his best to be a good person.
