(Minghui.org) I began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. With Master requesting Dafa disciples to clarify the truth, I’ve been diligently doing that first to my relatives and friends, then to my classmates and colleagues, and finally to complete strangers.
From all the years of clarifying the truth, I’ve come to realize that if Dafa disciples have compassion and righteous thoughts, people would be more willing to listen; but if we become careless and let human notions surface, then the energy field will not be righteous, and no matter how well spoken we are, people are more likely to be unreceptive. The result will be counterproductive, making awakening people a much more difficult task.
Awakening a Prison Guard
I once met a young lady who was a 30-year-old graduate who was ready to settle down to raise a family.
I said to her, “If I may, I’d like to make a suggestion. When looking for a mate, take note of his character. If he doesn’t possess good moral character, even if he owns a house, a fancy car, and loads of money, you will not have a happy life together.”She nodded in agreement, but sighed, “It’s so difficult to find a genuinely nice person.”
I took the opportunity and began clarifying the truth to her.
“In this day and age, our entire society is in a downward spiral of moral decline. People will do anything for money. Everybody is following suit. From the top echelon of government to the local officials, they are rotten to the core…“Jiang Zemin took the lead, living an outrageous lifestyle of corruption and debauchery…
“How many corrupt officials have sent their families, their children, and their wealth abroad? Even these people have lost confidence in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)…”
I went on to tell her about the CCP spreading lies about Falun Dafa and different instances of them defaming the practice.
“The CCP has committed crimes against God and humanity. I hope you can awaken and renounce the Party and withdraw from all its affiliates before it’s too late.”She said, “I think you are a good person. I believe you.”
She then allowed me to help her withdraw from all the CCP’s affiliates. She looked at me strangely and asked, "Do you know what I do?”
I shook my head.
“I’m a prison guard, with a special assignment to handle Falun Gong practitioners.”She then wondered, “What I don’t understand is, Falun Gong goes out all day talking to people and distributing materials. You don’t stay home to take care of your families and children. What are you guys trying to accomplish?
She continued, “There’s an elderly lady who’s been in and out of prison several times. She’s been punished and beaten, but she won’t change…"
I explained to her, “Falun Gong practitioners continue to clarify the truth and distribute materials in disregard of their own safety, so that good people like you can understand what Falun Gong is about and what the CCP is about, so that when the CCP is eliminated, you all will have a future of security and peace.”
“Your safety is our hope and wish.” I went on with sincerity, “In your job, you must have contact with a lot of Falun Gong practitioners. I’m sure you’ve come to know that they do not fight back when mistreated. We practice Truthfulness-Compassion- Forbearance. We are good people. I hope in the future, you will take advantage of your position to do your best to protect Falun Gong practitioners. At the least, don’t participate in persecuting them. Being good to Falun Gong is being good to yourself.”
All along, I talked to her as if I were talking to my own daughter. My heart was filled with compassion toward her. My intention was to awaken her conscience.Master says, “Compassion can harmonize Heaven and Earth, ushering in spring” (“The Fa Rectifies the Cosmos”from Hong Yin Vol. II)
It was Master’s magnificent compassion that helped awaken this precious soul.
Changing the Mind of a Middle-aged Woman
Another time, I was clarifying the truth to a middle-aged woman who told me that a Falun Gong friend had given her some Dafa materials before, and that she used to be very sympathetic to Falun Gong, but later she began to find practitioners rather annoying.
I asked her why?
She said, “You all are constantly talking about how bad the Communist Party is and how it persecutes you. But aren’t you asking for it? If you think Falun Gong is good, why can’t you just practice at home?”
I could see she meant no harm. She just didn’t quite understand the fundamental purpose of why Falun Gong practitioners have to clarify the truth.
So, I said to her, “A look at you tells me you and I have a predestined relationship. I’d like to treat you as a friend. Ordinary people’s friendship revolves around eating and drinking and sharing emotional dramas. A Falun Gong friend will look out for your safety and welfare.”
I went on to explain, “I will tell you why Falun Gong practitioners clarify the truth with patience and consistence. We want to let people know that the day of the CCP’s demise is coming soon, Anyone who hasn’t renounced the Party or withdrawn from all its affiliates will suffer the consequences.”
I continued, with a sincere smile “Falun Gong practitioners can indeed stay home to practice and avoid being arrested and persecuted. But then, who would be there to warn people of the big catastrophe looming over their heads?”
The lady finally smiled back, “Now I understand. You are doing what you do for the good of others.”
In parting, I gave her some truth clarification materials and a disk of the 2014 Shen Yun performance so she could share it with her family.
She thanked me profusely and placed the Dafa materials and the Shen Yun disk carefully into her bag.
Winning the Heart of a Young Girl
I once saw a young girl in tears, so I walked over and said to her gently, “What’s happened? Why are you so sad? Is it something you can talk to me about? I really wanted to help, if I could.”
The young girl told me she was a migrant worker far away from home and having boyfriend trouble. Her boyfriend wanted to part company with her. It broke her heart.I listened with compassion and genuine interest.
I then helped her analyze the contradictions between her and her boyfriend, pointing out gently each person’s responsibilities in any relationship, and recommending possible solutions that might lead to their reconciliation.
I talked to her about taking care of herself while working far from home. I told her sadness could negatively impact her health.
The young girl calmed down quite a bit and wiped away her tears.
I saw that her emotions were finally under control, so I decided to switch topics and clarify the truth to her.
I told her about Falun Gong, about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, and all the atrocities the CCP has committed through the years. I also told her that the demise of the CCP is imminent, and that it would be wise for everybody to keep away from the Party.
All were news to her. She listened carefully. She said she had only been a Young Pioneer and was happy to renounce the CCP and withdraw from that affiliation.She also said, “You are the only person, beside my mother, who is so concerned about me.”
I reminded her to recite sincerely "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good, Falun Dafa is good" and she would be happy and at peace.
The young girl’s face finally cleared up and dissolved into a great smile.
To save the world’s people by clarifying the truth with compassionate and righteous thoughts is what Master requires each of his Dafa disciples. We must comply with what is expected of us.
All through the years, every time I go out to clarify the truth, I will recite Master’s words in “The Fa Rectifies the Cosmos” in Hong Yin Vol. II:
“Compassion can harmonize Heaven and Earth, ushering in springRighteous thoughts can save the people in this world”
I use those words from Master to remind myself to practice the Fa as a genuine Dafa disciple, to save people with compassion and righteous thoughts, to truly think of others, and to sincerely wish them well.
Sometimes, I have also encountered people who would refuse to listen to the truth, or would say something negative about Falun Gong, and even those who would threaten to use their cell phones to report me to the police.
During those times, I would try my best to keep my heart unmoved. I would not argue with them or attempt to convince them. Instead, I would send forth righteous thoughts to clear the evil factors behind them and hope that their good side would surface so that they would be able to listen to the truth at their next encounter with Falun Gong.
Of course, studying the Fa with absolute diligence and mindfulness, keeping constant righteous thoughts, and using the wisdom from the Fa to clarify the truth are the sure means of accomplishing the awakening of more people.
I hope I and all fellow practitioners will be more diligent so that we can save more people with the little time we have left before the end of Master’s Fa-rectification period!
