A few months after the persecution of Falun Gong began, Ms. Guihua was arrested for refusing to give up the practice. Upset by the arrest, Ms. Wang, a reputable businesswoman in the wholesale produce industry, went to visit one of her neighbors, a policeman.

The policeman was confused. "Why would you ask about her?” he asked. “She was really stubborn and refused to quit Falun Gong."

Ms. Wang then told him about how Ms. Guihua was her most trusted and honest buyer. She also told him about how Ms. Guihua was the only person she trusted enough to let alone into her house to clean it, despite the fact that a lot of money could be stolen very easily—but never was when Ms. Guihua did the cleaning.

Eventually, the policeman decided to make an exception and granted Ms. Wang's visit to Ms. Guihua in the detention center. Ms. Wang heard that the place was cold and took a pair of insulated boots for Ms. Guihua.

The persecution of Falun Gong has impacted Ms. Guihua's family harshly. Her husband was forced by his employer to divorce her while she was in the detention center during that time. Soon after, Ms. Guihua was illegally sentenced to seven years in prison, leaving her child alone at home. Ms. Wang tried to help by taking clothes and other goods to Ms. Guihua's child.

After Ms. Guihua was released from jail, she continued to practice Falun Gong, and Ms. Wang has since withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party's Youth League and Young Pioneers.
