(Minghui.org) The Security Department of Nanshan Group in Longkou City arrested over 20 of its workers in August 2015. They were beaten, tortured, and hounded to write statements renouncing Falun Gong, a spiritual practice persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Their families were also pressured to collaborate with the Nanshan Group by signing and providing their fingerprints on a promise to stop their family members from practicing. In addition, the families were forced to pay large sums in extortion, threatened with job loss, and evicted from their residences.

The operation was directed by the Longkou City 610 Office, which provided a list of names of those who filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, the former Communist Party leader who ordered the violent suppression of Falun Gong, and issued orders to investigate and submit reports about the plaintiffs on August 5, 2015.

Torture, Interrogation, and Extortion

Sui Xinying, director of the Security Department at Nanshan Group, arrested over 20 people on the list provided by the 610 Office on August 20 and August 24, 2015. They were hung up using handcuffs and beaten with electric batons while security guards interrogated them about their roles in suing Jiang Zemin.

Among those arrested were Mr. Song Hongtian, Ms. Chen Guihua, Ms. Chen Guifang, Ms. Fu Min, Ms. Wang Wenhao, Ms. Wang Cuifeng, Ms. Han Lihua, and Ms. Ding Shuling.

The Nanshan Group also used a torture method called "Roasting Whole Lamb.” The victim is handcuffed to a pole and suspended in the air with the ankles tied together. The victim is then swung like a lamb over a roasting pit. The victim becomes bedridden for several months after being tortured this way.

Another torture method is called “Playing Swing.” The victim is hung upside down with both hands and feet tied to an iron pillar and shocked with electric batons while being pushed around the pillar. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhan Shuhong was tortured like this while she was detained in the basement of Nanshan Group by the 610 Office.

On top of their torture and harassment of their family members, the Nanshan Group employees were fired and evicted from the company estate.

History of Persecution by Nanshan Group

Ms. Zheng Quanhua was detained for over ten days in May 2003 and again detained in November 2005 for talking to the public and distributing information about the persecution of Falun Gong. In April 2006, she managed to escape arrest by the company's security director, who then forced restaurant manager Mr. Meng Xiangliang to find Ms. Zheng.

Song Hongtian, a classmate of company chairman Song Zuowen, wrote a letter to convince Zuowen to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Hongtian was detained and fined 20,000 yuan.

When former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin visited Longkou City on May 9, 2006, city officials detained at least 25 practitioners (4 from Nanshan Group) as a gesture of welcome for Jiang.

Company Targeted Practitioners Even Before 1999

Song Zuowen, chairman of Nanshan Group, began targeting practitioners even before the communist regime launched its suppression of Falun Gong in 1999.

Song dismissed Mr. Wang Linjiang, then-director of the Nanshan Police Station in 1994, for practicing and teaching Falun Gong to people.

He also dismissed then-factory director Mr. Wang Ligang and evicted his family in 1997 for hosting Falun Gong exercise groups.

Mr. Song Zhenli, a former senior company official, was also dismissed and evicted from his residence for practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Song was later detained many times in the Nanshan Group Security Department.
