(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Hanqian was immediately transferred to a brainwashing center at the end of his 15-day detention. No family visits were allowed. His family and lawyer complained to respective departments, but without any results.
Hidden Brainwashing Center
Mr. Jiang was arrested and held in the Qingling Detention Center for picking up some discarded DVDs that explained the facts about Falun Gong. He should have been released after his 15-day detention on July 2, 2015.
The family waited outside the center from 5 a.m. until evening, but did not see him leave the detention center.
Luo Haiying, the detention center director, told them that agents from the Domestic Security Division arrived before the family and took him to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center. Luo refused to provide any transfer document.
The family was not allowed to see Mr. Jiang at the brainwashing center.
They were told to bring some daily necessities and clothes for Mr. Jiang to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center the next day.
Director Zheng from the 610 Office did not allow Mr. Jiang's wife to take the personal belongings to the brainwashing center at first. She was finally allowed to go to the center, but had to be accompanied by two agents.
The gate guard did not allow Mr. Jiang's wife to enter the center, but opened a small window and accepted the things she brought. The brainwashing center does not have any name or door number at the entrance.
Lawyer Reprimanded
Mr. Jiang's wife hired Shi Fulong, a lawyer, on July 3. They went to the appeals office at the Wuchang District Police Department in Wuhan City. An officer refused to take the appeal and reprimanded the lawyer,
“How dare you take a Falun Gong case,” said an officer. “That simply shows that you don't really know the law.”
The lawyer and Mr. Jiang's wife then went to the Disciplinary Inspection Commission. The inspector refused to meet with them. After lengthy negotiations, the receptionist at the gate took the complaint and the lawyer's letter.
Court Refused to Hear the Complaint
Mr. Jiang's family was not allowed to visit him in the brainwashing center despite many efforts.
Two collaborators tried to brainwash him, so he would give up his belief in Falun Gong, but he refused to do so. Therefore, he was tortured.
Mr. Jiang's wife and daughter hired a human rights lawyer. The family and the lawyer went to the Wuchang District People's Court to file a complaint against those involved in the persecution of Mr. Jiang. They also demanded that the administrative sanctions against him be dismissed.
The court refused to take the case and no explanation was given. However a court staff told the family that Falun Gong cases were not under the jurisdiction of that court and they should appeal in the respective government office. The staff refused to show any evidence that this court does not take cases related to Falun Gong.
Arrested for Picking Up Discarded DVDs
Mr. Jiang Hanqian was arrested by security from the Wuhan University Security Division on June 16, 2015, for picking up Falun Gong informational DVDs that had been thrown away by people.
Director Lin from the 610 Office, Officer Tong Yingjie from the Luojiashan Police Station and the driver ransacked Mr. Jiang's home that evening. No identification was shown to the family and no list of confiscated items was provided.
Mr. Jiang was arrested and taken to the Luojiashan Police Station that day. Lin, Tong and others interrogated him until 2 a.m. the next morning. They then transferred him to the Qingling Detention Center for a 15-day term.
No notice was given to his family.
