Chinese Law Professionals Voice Support for Falun Gong Practitioners' Lawsuits Against Jiang Zemin

August 06, 2015 |

(Minghui.org) More than 120,000 people have filed criminal complaints against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin since the end of May. They are charging him with initiating the brutal persecution of Falun Gong 16 years ago.

The plaintiffs also include non-Falun Gong practitioners, such as human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng's wife and children.

Falun Gong practitioners across China who are busy collecting signatures to end the persecution have discovered that their countrymen are very much in favor of the lawsuits. People from different walks of life have voiced their support, especially law professionals, who have a deep understanding of Jiang's crime against humanity.

Lawsuits Against Jiang Are Encouraging

Zheng Enchong, a renowned human rights attorney, said, “So many people suing Jiang Zemin reflects a fundamental change in China.”

Zhang Zanning, a law professor from Southeast University, Jiangsu Province, remarked, “My colleagues and I all think the lawsuits against Jiang are very encouraging. They indicate that the Chinese are becoming more aware of the law. We should support those who seek to protect their legal rights.”

The Persecution Is Unconstitutional

Mr. Han Guangsheng, former Secretary of Justice of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, said, “The persecution of Falun Gong is fundamentally unconstitutional. It was executed outside of the law and has no foundation in the law. It is a violation of human rights. It is a crime that denies religious freedom and a crime against humanity. Practitioners' efforts over the years to end the persecution have been very meaningful and, in fact, pressured the CCP to shut down the forced labor system.”

Forced Organ Harvesting Is a Crime Against Humanity

Attorney Teng Biao, a Doctor of Law from Peking University and a visiting scholar at Harvard University Law School, stated, “The Chinese Community Party (CCP) harvests organs from Falun Gong practitioners and death-penalty criminals against their will. From the reported cases, the extent of the practice is shocking. Falun Gong practitioners are still being persecuted. Jiang and other CCP leaders have committed crimes against humanity. Jiang should stand trial.”

Mr. Bao Tong, secretary to former Premier Zhao Ziyang, said, “The CCP's crimes of live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners and the persecution of Falun Gong for the past 16 years are a public violation of human rights. It makes a mockery of justice and hinders social progress. Everyone that participates in the organ harvesting, including every citizen, and every government agency, should be condemned and should put on trial to accept the judgment of history.”

Every Chinese Citizen Should Sue Jiang

Human rights lawyer Guo Lianhui, the founder of Jiangxi Mingli Law Firm, commented, “It is very good thing to sue Jiang Zemin. He is a villain that did many bad things to our country and its people. He started the persecution of Falun Gong. It is inevitable that he will be punished. When the time comes, I would join everyone and sue him in the Supreme People's Court.”

Mr. Yang Guang, a Chinese citizen, wrote in his blog, “I am not a Falun Gong practitioner, but I am touched by practitioners' courage in filing lawsuits against Jiang Zemin. Not only do I support this movement, but I also call on every Chinese citizen to participate. As a friend, I want to tell Falun Gong practitioners: 'There are a hundred million people behind ten thousand people, there are several hundred million people behind a hundred million people. You are not alone.'”
