(Minghui.org) To demonstrate their resistance to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, four judges from the Zhongshan District Court in Dalian wore casual clothing to the trial of practitioner Ms. Wang Xiuxiang on June 25, 2015. Instead of convicting her, they released her after the trial.

When Mr. Wang Xianhuai was tried in the Huaiyang County Court on May 25, 2015, presiding judge Ma Jun adjourned the proceedings in 10 minutes. He overturned the three-year sentence handed down by a lower court to Mr. Wang, who then walked out of the courtroom a free man.

Persecution Loses Ground at the Judicial Level

In China's Party-controlled judicial system, practitioners' sentences are most often predetermined by the 610 Office. When practitioners appeal their wrongful sentences, the higher courts usually uphold the verdicts without a second trial, or go through the motions just for show.

Judge Ma's dismissal of Mr. Wang's sentence is a sign that the suppression of Falun Gong is losing ground in the Party's judicial system–a major government organ used to carry out the persecution.

Even more dramatic was the release of Mr. Wu Ruiting and Ms. Zhu Ruimin, husband and wife.

The couple were tried in the Xishi District Court on April 8, 2015. The judge adjourned the trial without announcing a verdict.

Police and staff from the Procuratorate took the couple to Yingkou City Detention Center to await the verdict. However, the couple failed the physical exam, and the detention center refused to accept them.

The police told the prosecutor's representative to take care of them.

“I can't take them. I have no idea where I should take them. My supervisor just asked me to bring back the paperwork, not them,” said the prosecutor's representative.

“You indicted them. If you don't take them, who will?” responded the police.

The conversation between the police and the Procuratorate staff ended in a standoff, and both parties left. No one rounded up the two practitioners.

The couple called a taxi and returned home.
